Aquarium plants????

Hi *~*, Two of the hardiest plants are Elodea & Vallis, both do well without specific lighting & CO2 units but they need to be in aquarium growing substrate rather then just gravel or they will not thrive. The best way to do this is use jelly jars or small plant pots & pot them up as you would any houseplant. I use TetraPlant but there are many more very similar types of substrate.

Place marbles or stones on the top of the substrate or the fish dig it out & spit it everywhere & you end up constantly replacing the top layer.

Real plants are really nice in any tank set up. As for the gold fish they are not too nice towards them. There are a very few plants that these guys dont eat and hence fake plants would be the best option. Further undergravel filters are not really very supportive of the whole plants set up. Try getting some long leaf plants. Any small leaf plant will be eaten up in a couple of days and all that will be left will be the stalk.

You are a good pet keeper that is you thinking on the correct lines.. Get the tank some sheltering and hiding places and you will see the fish being more comfortable than before.

Goldfish eat plants.

Real plants are quite a handful and don't last very long. I'd suggest using artificial plants and corals (plastic or rubber types), you can easily wash and clean them and they are easy to maintain.

Goldfish like Elodeas. They keep the water fresh for them.

i think that you should get a mixture of fake plants and real plants as goldfish eat real plants so it will be good if you have the two.
