Processors: Intel vs Athlon?
My current laptop computer is an Acer with a 1.4GHz Celeron M processor. Recently I've been having a few problems with it and I think now is the time to move on!
My question is about the different types of processor available. The computers I have looked at online have all been either Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64X2. The Athlon ones are cheaper in general than the Intel, but is there a marked drop in performance? I won't be gaming but I need to edit and produce music as well as more general things like watching DVDs and surfing etc.
Somebody has told me the Athlon processors are less stable and more prone to crashing; is there any truth in this? Would I be better off spending a little more for an Intel or are the Athlons just as good with a smaller price tag?

My brothers CoreDuo2 notebook gets as hot as my Turion 64 notebook. It also use a lot the fan to cool it down.
Anyway all my computers are Amd base but the truth is that Intel Core Duo 2 are the best cpu that you can get right now. They are cooler, faster and more energy efficient than Amd processors.
If you really want to save a few pennies go with Amd Turion if you want the best go with Intel CoreDuo 2.

To be honest, i'm an AMD fan/consumer myself. I even have continually been pleased with the indisputable fact that the AMD chips have been quicker than their Intel counterpart. So whilst Intel got here out with the middle Duo... i became shocked that they have got been waiting to overcome the present AMD lineup. with the help of "modern-day" I advise what AMD has attainable in retail ideas-blowing now. So while you're making plans to construct your rig now or in the close to destiny, I hate to confess it yet Intel is tops ideas-blowing now. Me, i'm waiting for what AMD is popping out with as a reaction to Intel's center Duo. Basing on previous developments, AMD is often waiting again up with something greater effective... (I do wish that which will nevertheless be the case this time around). At any fee, if what AMD comes up with isn't so good as Intel's, then i can make the change. So i visit attend.

AMD Processors has different architecture compare to Intel based processors. For one, AMD has few stages and the new ones has built-in memory controllers already. But based from experiences. Intel's are more reliable and stable. Try the Quad core processor if you wish.

a couple of friends of mine experience problems with AMD processors in Laptops due to thermal design.
the processors run fast and stable but the fans inside the laptop are constantly running which is somewhat getting on their nerves.
Intel and AMD have both top technology with their chips but it seems that Intel has better ways to circumvent temperature problems.

See athlon processor get hot quickly and they use more power then comparing to Intel core 2 processors...
I prefer u 2 go with Intel core 2 Duo processor which is faster in terms of Fsb and cache and give better stability and performance...

athlons are better with a smaller price tag.
Its a myth about athlons being less stable. they are far better chips for overclocking and as long as all your drivers are correct and up to date there is no reason why any thing should be unstable
