Does Limewire contain viruses?

Limewire itself is not illegal, but what you download from it can be, if your downloading, music, movies, games and so that your normally would pay for, it is illegal.

You can download a virus with anything that your download from limewire, as it is peer to peer, meaning who ever uploaded the file, if their computer was infected at the time, that infection and transfer over onto your computer.

It took me two days once to remove a virus off the desktop my kid brother and sister use, because of limewire. So use the program at your own risk. Also there have been a few people who have been caught and all have paid a large fine, so keep that in mind.

A - limewire doesn't contain viruses, never has. It is simply a peer-to-peer programme for sharing files.

B - executable programmes and zip files can contain viruses. Never download a shared executable or a shared zip file from any file sharing programme, ever.

C - Limewire isn't illegal. It is the actions of the people sharing files that are not public property that is illegal. Scissors aren't illegal, either, but using them to scratch your initials in the paint on your neighbours car is.

D - Kazaa files contained a virus specifically written for Kazaa files. Kazaa is the only p-2-p that has such a virus.

E - If you are in the US, and share a lot of files, you may someday get a demand from RIAA for thousands of dollars.

F - anybody who goes anywhere on the internet without an up-to-date anti-virus, anti-spyware, and up-to-date firewall, is going to get a virus, trojan, or other malware from somewhere, and it serves them right for being careless. There are crawler bots on the net searching for unprotected computers. There are websites with embedded malware that can infect you when you just look at them.

G - the song files cannot have viruses or trojans embedded in them, unless, of course, you download an exe or zip file, which I have already explained is dumb because they can contain embedded malware.

Lime wire itself IS NOT illegal. What makes it illegal is the sharing of the music and other items avail on limewire.

As for viruses...for the most part it does not have any...but be aware...anything that's free is just that. It doesn't take much for someone to put a bug into a song and have you down load it and you get the blue screen of death.

If you read on the back of software boxes and music Cd's...it clearly states that the item is for the end user only...and can not be copied.

It's illegal only for those people who are selling discs 'cause they don't sell discs anymore 'cause people are just downloading it from limewire...and some of the songs contain viruses 'cause some people are just working to get rid of your computer..anyways don't all songs contain viruses there are only few..I haven't got a virus,,,(note: viruses are more likely to be found in programs not in songs)

Normally it is the pirated songs and programs that may have a chance of malware. Most likely what he got was a trojan, their entry method is different then viruses but the end-result can be the same. They basically work by tricking the person into install something on their computer by thinking it is something else, in this case a certain program or song.

It is illegal, and Limewire itself does not contain viruses, but most of the songs you download from it have viruses. I recommend not using i.

I have heard so many bad things about viruses and more from limewire. my daughter had it on mine and my computer repairman told me it is very loaded with viruses, because the songs come from everywhere and so many people you are going to get infected.=======

Limewire is not free its paid for by adware the main one being "Search180" which leads to viruses and yes it is illegal as it infringes on copyright laws
