Did you hear that the people involved in the Tiger attack had slingshots?

I heard on the news yesterday that two of the people injured in the San Francisco zoo tiger attack were carrying slingshots. Does this make you think the tiger was acting in self-defense and that the "victims" provoked the tiger and caused the attack?

Update:

There seem to be conflicting news reports about whether or not there were slingshots. I don't know for sure if they did. My opinion on the matter certainly hinges on whether or not they provoked the tiger.

The three men who were attacked had slingshots on them and a mostly empty bottle of vodka was found in their car... they probably provoked the tiger, and some other facts make it appear that they were the cause.

The Tiger Exhibit opened in 1940 and, although the wall was shorter than the 16 feet recommended by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the moat exceeded their recommendations and a tiger had never escaped that enclosure for over 67 years.

When the father of the young man who died called the two surviving brothers asking if they knew where his son was, they lied and told him that they did not know.

The surviving brothers refused to cooperate when police officers tried to get their names shortly after the attack.

I have more sympathy for the tiger than the tiger's victims.

Its very possible, still the tiger should have been confined so that it could not get out. Dangerous animals should only be kept in captivity in such a way that both the public AND the animal is protected. The situation should never have happened. I used to work at the LA zoo back in the 1980's and at that time either the Lions or the tigers (don't remember which) killed someone who broke into the cages at night when the zoo was closed. The person was clearly at fault, but the zoo still changed its procedures to make such a break in less likely in the future.

Not only that but also the 2 surviving victims arn't cooperating with the police at this time. I would believe it to be true, only because why would the Tiger jump out of its enclosure? Those Zoo animals are well fed, and it had no reason to want out of its safe environment. The dead boys car was searched, and they found a empty vodka bottle also. It sound like they were dumb, drunk, and abusive to the animals at the Zoo.

Both should be charged with manslaughter, cruelty to animals, and contributing to the deligenquency of a minor.

If that's true, then they deserved everything they got. My sympathy's with the tiger this time round, because not only was it apparently provoked, the zoo made no effort to make sure that it would be kept in its enclosure, no matter what, so they effectively signed its death warrant. Another poor creature loses its life because of a bunch of idiots and people who can't be bothered to adhere to health-and-safety rules.

Sure looks like it At least that poor tiger taught them both a lesson that neither will forget in a hurry

Apparently, they did NOT have slingshots.Of course,it wouldn't have mattered either way.The zoo has to take the ultimate responsibility.

If that is truly the case, the two "victims" who survived should be charged with involuntary manslaughter, and animal abuse.
