What Type Transmission Fluid are you using? PLEASE tell me your not using Dextron in it. Chrysler Transmissions past 1988-1991 *cant remember exact year* but anything past that year requires ATF+4 tranny fluid *check your owners manual under fluids* Dextron will work in a pinch but it lacks the friction molecules the clutch packs need to grip firmly. Using Dextron long period wise will cause your packs to slip and ultimately die. If you do have Dextron... slim chance you can probly get away with changing fluid and filter again but damage sounds like its already been done.. Good Luck

You need to check the fluid while its idling in park. If its low you should add some. If you smell something burning my guess would be something is leaking transmission fluid and its getting on the exhaust pipes and burning up. Something similar happened to me once. If the fluid is fine I would say something might be wrong with the torque converter.

Your transmission is electronically controlled. You might check to see if any error codes are in your OBD (On-Board Diagnostic) unit. Some parts stores such as Autozone will read them for free. There is a method of retrieving them with the ignition switch which is explained at http://www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html along with the meaning of code numbers.

Another site that has information about your transmission is http://www.allpar.com/fix/trans.html It explains a lot about the transmission that is in your vehicle. ...Good Luck...
