You can take it to your pharmacist and have him put a flavor in it. They can do that now. Many assorted flavors, so it does taste better.

Some pharmacies have flavors that can be added to medicine for children. It may make it a little more palatable, without having it taste like candy.

Instead of using cough medicine, use Vick's vapor rub. It doesn't take very much and you don't have to worry about the chemicals that are going into your sons body. They also make Vick's vapor rub for children. It smells like cherries. I have three children and none of them ever had cough syrup.

I have a packet of cool aide that I mix a pinch into the cough medication and give it to my kids. Don't stir it in... its the powder that they lick off their lips not the syrup.

I don't think you can do anything. but if your son refuses to take it maybe you can make a compromise. for example after it he can take as many candies as he wants for a few minutes. of course you also need to make sure he brushes his teeth then
