Boycott the BCS?

Yes, it is time for college football fans to boycott the BCS, the bowl games and regular college games until a bowl playoff system is put in place to truly crown the Number 1 college football team in America.

Year after year college football teams and their fans across America wonder why they are not Number #1 contenders instead of the two teams vying for the national championship game.

With the BCS leaders continuing to ignore the calls to change how the Number1 college football team is crowned, the BCS leaders are leaving college football fans no choice but to boycott the games until our voice is heard.

With only hundredths of a percentage point separating the top 16 teams in the official BCS standings; college teams and fans have a right to scratch their heads and say wait just a minute. Boycotting the college football games seems to be the only way to get the BCS leaders to come down from their thrones and listen to the college football fans whose love for the game

Update:

enables the BCS leaders the luxury of enjoying a

comfortable life financially.

Update 2:

Andrew....regardless who "my team" is, the BCS flat out doesNOT work!

If Georgia(not "my team" by the way) was in the BCS Championship game this year, they would beat either LSU or Ohio State. So what does that tell you(and EVERYBODY else in the country!)

A TRUE bowl championship series!! Playoffs!!!!

Update 3:

Jose M.....

READ THE QUESTION BEFORE YOU "TRY" AND ANSWER, PLEASE!!!!

Update 4:

ashleystarrxo....

LSU lost to 2 unranked teams this year. One being the week prior to their own conference championship game. Do they really deserve to be one of only 2 teams playing for the name "National Champions"?

Update 5:

ashleystarrxo....

They didn't "keep up in the polls", they jumped 5 spots after their win the the SEC Championship over Tennessee.

Simple and Plain, the BCS(the way it is now) doesNOT work.

I hear ya man. I think UGA is the better team, but because they didn't win the SEC that's why they are not in. I think UGA vs USC would have been a better match up than Hawaii. I think BCS committee wants to cause more controversy because it gives them more attention and publicity. To be honest with you I haven't been surprised at the games this year other than watching Michigan win against UF.

I'll be more than willing to boycott the BCS until they can put together better match ups or create a playoff system so some of these teams can stop whining about split national titles.

College foottball needs what college basketball has, a playoff system. Instead the BCS system makes it so only the #1 or #2 team at the end of the season can win the national title. I heard they rigged the other BCS games too, had the good teams play the weaker teams, to protect their system. Had Georgia played USC the winner of the that game would have probably had a good case for national title. By putting them against weaker opponents it's harder for them to make that claim. People love the sport too much to boycott though.

    Already there!

I refused to watch any of the games for the past two years. It's like watching an exhibition season, you can only debate who is the best, it's time to prove it.

They say a play-off system can't be done?

    What a joke!

Hey all you Directors....I'm your average fan, here's a system you can tweak to make work with plenty of dollars for all...

Start with league Champion from all Division 1 schools (12) add champion for each split division (5) allow (8) positions for the Division 1AA schools and keep your precious BCS rankings for the remaining 7 at large positions..

    Round one starting Thanksgiving week.

32 teams (16 games) - Teams are slotted by BCS ranking and bracketed.

Top 16 are the home team. Must have stadium availability and capacity of greater than 50K or home game is forfeited to your opponent. If neither school can accommodate neutral ground (like current bowls) is selected.

    Round 2

16 teams bracket, Highest seed is the home team.

    Round 3

8 teams (4 games). Move to bowl locations with higher seating capacities.

    Round 4

    4 teams (2 games)

    Round 1

True Champion the first week of the year.

Money for each round goes to each conference (not the team) the conference determines how to divide funds equally to keep all teams competitive and healthy.

Set amount giving to each conference whether you are represented or not.

Just imagine the amount of advertising dollars that would come in for a 5 wk championship series.

Just for your information LSU did not lose to 2 unranked teams, at the time they lost to Kentucky they were ranked and the 2 L's were both in 3OT, they are undefeated in regulation, can any other team stake claim to that this season, NO! But I have to say that I do beleive college football does need a playoff system, just take the top 16 teams, the top 32 is way too many teams (just about everyone would be in the playoffs). The top 16 would be perfect, that way the teams would still have to come out to play each and every week to stay in the top 16. Oh and by the way LSU will roll over OSU, they will be healthy once again, just as they were at the start of the season and we all know what they were doing at the start when they were healthy!! GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!

I will not boycott the regular season. No way. What am I gonna do, watch the NFL?

I'm not gonna watch the BCS Championship game though, mainly because I don't care. I may put it on the radio though.

Yeah...I have to agree with you. If we had the same thing in the NFL, it'd be the Patriots and Colts/Cowboys in the Super Bowl. You have to give the other teams a chance to win it all. USC would've really had a good chance at winning it all this year if it weren't for the BCS system.

    (I'm a Florida fan)

I entirely agree with you. Spread the word! Try to get people on board with this idea. I think it is going to be hard to do, it will be nearly impossible to convince most people especially people who go to the schools that are playing for the BCS. It would be pretty awesome if it could be done. It would teach the money grubbing BCS people a lesson.

I feel the same way...i'm 10minutes from LSU, sisters went to LSU, but they lost to Ken and Ark. now if they had lost to florida and ga or aub & tenn i'd say yeah those are strong teams that put up a fight year after year.

ohio st lost to illinois...illinois come on that lost with the sad big 10 plus florida killed them last year. shucks...i feel there was a conspiricy where w.virginia and kansas lost in the same week to sad teams so ohio & lsu could get in for ticket purchases not the best teams...& ga was ranked higher than lsu and tenn. usc killed i mean killed illinois...shucks just make a playoff and tell the nerds who write the polls to go home.

Source(s): i'm sick of the arguments...the bcs is a new name for the combo of ap poll and coach poll so what's the change from the old system

Fans ultimately control this garbage. You don't watch - the ratings tank - don't go to the games - bowl committees lose money - and don't buy the sponsors products. None of this will happen on a great extent to force a playoff, though.
