If your team went 16-0 (Non Pats fans, please)?
Not including Patriots fans of this year, please tell me how you would handle the following scenario as an NFL Fan:
Your favorite team has just gone 16-0. There were a few close call games, and a few blow-outs where your team was accused of being too aggressive with the scoring at the end of the game. Obviously, there are a lot of people who don't like your team, or are jealous of their accomplisment. There are also a lot of other people who enjoyed the historic season and appreciate watching talent.
Now, as a fan, do you proudly YET respectfully and humbly enjoy your teams accomplisment and acknowledge that it was a hard, tough road to go undefeated
OR
Do you whine and cry everytime there is a negative comment made about the team and constantly throw it in the face of everyone that your team beat?
What type of fan would you be?
Well I don't know how else to word the second type of fan. Sorry if it was "leading" you can form whatever opinion you like. Thank God for the First Amendment!!!
and Beantown, I don't take you seriously :)
I didn't include spygate in this sceario because
A)I don't give a crap about it
and B) this is my scenario.
Spygate has nothing to do with this question.
The type of fan I am:
Before the Pats/Steelers game I said that I hope it was a clean game and that the best team would win. I was obviously upset, but I will acknowledge the Steelers got beat by a better team at that point in the season. I can be cocky occasionally, but for the most part I am a proud, but realistic fan.

It doesn't matter who "the" team is year in and year out, some people are going to try and bring down whoever is on top. People are going to whine and cry about, "what-ifs" or "shoulda, coulda", it's called jealousy. But as a true fan of your team, you have to take all the bad that goes along with the good. I personally think smack talk is all in good fun. Some people can take it and others can't.
But as a respectable fan, you have to be humble and not boast, because as the old saying goes, "what comes around, goes around."
And I'll end by saying, you're gorgeous! :)

It is simple, as difficult as it is to actually go 16-0, I could not help but be a humbled individual. I think it is all about one's personality though and how they react to certain occurances. As an example, the Cowboys are 13-3, I would never dream to go around tooting the horn of a team that hasnt done much beyond the 70's and the 90's, granted that is way different then being 16-0, but my point is a SB win solidfies pretty much everything, cuz without the ring it is pretty much a wasted effort. Teams take the field to win the SB. That is why the game is played, to crown a champion. Nothing is won in the regular season, as my Mavericks found out, being the best in regular season is meaningless. It is though, an incredible accomplishment, one in which we may never see again. Let me ask this question? Beyond this recent run of championships for the Pats, what has the team done, besides get blown out in a SB back in the 80's? I know this is a favorite come back to Cowboy fan's, "living in the past" they say, but without a past there is no path to a future. So, I take it with a grain of salt, I enjoy it, yet knowing that it can easily be gone tomorrow, I do not take it for granted. Humble is the key word, I was taught that early on in life. Do NE players not have t-shirts saying "Humble Pie" on it? Maybe a few of their fans should invest! Remember, in todays game it is not forever! It will bite you in the *** just as quick as it happend!

I would love to see a team go undefeated, just to wipe that smug look off of Don Shula's face every time he pops that bottle of champagne when the last undefeated team of the season finally loses a game. So, it's the Patriots. They're a good team. I'm not a fan. But, I was smart enough to pick up Brady for my fantasy football team in this year's draft. So, as far as I'm concerned, he can run up the score all he wants. But, I think I would like to see the Dolphins go winless more than see someone go undefeated. Not that I have anything against the Dolphins (although I always thought Cam Cameron was overrated as the Chargers' offensive coordinator - and this would prove it). But, I do think it would be ironic that the Dolphins become the first NFL franchise with both a winless and a lossless season in their history. Go Not Dolphins!!!

I would S*** if the Eagles went 16-0. I would be humble about it though. Proudly wear the colors and support the team. I would rub it into the face of close friends and family, but thats it no further than that. Just try to defend my team from people that bust my balls and allow people to have their humble opinions and ignore the ignorant annoying ones. I think the problem with this whole NE thing is the fact that the area up there is just dominating in all sports. People get tired of it. And I think it's not the real fans that are a problem but the useless band wagon and fair weather fans that get under our skin.

I would whine and cry everytime there is a negative comment made about the team and constantly throw it in the face of everyone that my team beat, cause thats the type of fan i am.
I mean do you really think out of those 2 choices anyone would select the 2nd option? I got a question for you, Your team just got crush by the 16-0 patriots. Are you the type of fan:
that humbly accepts defeat and respectfully acknowledge that you team lost to the better team and graciously congratulates the fans of the winning team
or
do you whine and moan that its all a conspiracy and the refs blew the call and if you team was 100% healthy they could have won and call the other team cheaters.
which type of fan are you??

Excellent question.
I would have to say scenario 1. I have seen too many people that fall in to scenario 2 and they look like fools. It is not very becoming to see a person act in such a foolish manner. Be a professional. Win humbly and lose graciously. I'm sure that there are fans of the Pats* that see some of their own fans and say to themselves "what an idiot". I'm not saying that Pats* fans are the only ones. There are some like that in all cities around the US. There are some at Heinz Field that are completely obnoxious. But allow me to make an observation and tell me if I might be mistaken: It seems to me that some Pats* fans have adopted the same attitude that Belichick displays----> SOUR.
Starred.

If the Lions went 16-0, I would try to be humble and acknowledge that it was hard. I know that I would be a jerk to the people that gave up on the Lions. Kind of. You tend to get mad when your team starts 6-2 and then after that every call seems to go to the other team.

To be honest with you I would rather my team go 14-2 in a tough division than go 16-0 in the league's weakest division.
People keep saying the Patriots played tough teams out side of the division and that is true. But all real football fans know that true competition lies within your division from opponest that see you twice a year.
Examples:
Green Bay got swept by the Bears divisonal foe they are much better than.
Arizona got swept by the 49ers divisonal foe they are much better than.
The Chargers lost to the 4-12 Chiefs.
I just can't get a true rush from my team beating up on much weaker opponents and then boasting and bragging about it. There's just something about the element of being challenged.
As for going 16-0 under the circumstances you listed I guess I would be happy for the team in some ways but I wouldn't be proud of it. That's just me.

I have the joy (or burden) of having 2 teams to cheer for. If my original team, DA BEARS, went 16-0 I would be humble and all that EXCEPT for when dealing with whiny Packers fans, then I would slightly rub it in. To me the rivalry between the Pack and Da Bears will never go away.
My new team, the KC Chiefs, I would just be humble and respectful. I don't have the same dislike for the Raiders and Broncos that the typical Chiefs fan has.

Sorry but I did not think it was fair to eliminate the pats fans on this Q so I am going to give my answer anyway
I feel that I would be the same kind of fan that I am for the Patriots I don't rub it in peoples faces on their losses and I would revel in my teams victories I also give credit to those teams that deserve credit I am not as fan of all 32 teams I am a fan of one But I also am a big fan of the NFL wich includes all the teams
Source(s): Patriot fan since 1959 and damn proud of it
