Heathcare, the economy, the election, or Britney's mental breakdown?

I think we have become very shallow as a society. I think a good portion of America is interested in Britney's woes because it detracts from their own. Funny, as I answer Larry King is on and Britney is the topic, very ironic. In my opinion it's the economy, always is.

Britney's Mental Breakdown! Poor Brit!

David,, We have media today that has become lazy,, they

have become totally visual oriented. The Journalist of today

don't work stories anymore. They rely on sound bites and

video. No more digging into a situation to unmask truth, just

whatever will fly the news desk and look glitzy. Darn shame

we don't have the benefit of the Winchell's, The Merill's, the

Ernie Pyle's,,. Jack Anderson's,, The American people deserve better. We can't trust what we read, if we can't trust

the work ethic of the provider,

At least they reported the news and broke news items of

substance,, and live and died by there Journalistic standard

You are SO right! If you go into Yahoo! News, it's all about Britney! Frankly, I can't say I care too much about that, I would rather read something about the elections/ economy that actually matters to me.

I'm not sure if healthcare will ever change into a socialized healthcare system like us in Canada. The health managment organizations would be severely affected. I would like to see everyone in the U.S have the easy access to good quality healthcare that we enjoy.

So many countries will be affected by the U.S economy if it recedes further.

Don't blame the media. They respond to ratings. I would have to say that Britney's mental breakdown is most important to the media because it garners ratings. Don't assume that informed, intelligent people are the only ones who seek new on various medias. The fact that that the stations report it does not make it the most pressing issue. The most pressing issue in my opinion is politics.

I think you're right and quite frankly, I'm getting sick of both the election coverage AND Britney's coverage (or personal lack of coverage, if you get my drift!)
