  • PayPal sends me yearly required letters. Why is the name different?

Every year, I get their privacy, etc. letter, but although the email and details are correct, the name is not. I contacted PayPal and they said that the name doesn't matter, but I'd like to know WHY they can't fix this.

Anyone else see this or know how to fix it?

    Thanks!

  • Anyone know if the owners of the Star Buffet in Chalfont have opened a new restaurant?

I know the Star Buffett on US-202 closed and has been replaced by another Chinese buffet (the sister restaurant is on PA-113 in Souderton), but I LOVED Star Buffet and keep hoping that Sue opens a new place.

  • To "Messianic Jews" - do you wear/use T'fillin?

And if you do not, how do you reconcile the admonition in the Sh'ma with not wearing T'fillin?

    Thanks!

(edit - it actually suggested the correct category for once! Is the world ending?)

  • A question for 'Messianic Jews' - why do some Jews wear the techelet while some do not?

I am quite interested in your responses, please.

    Thanks!

  • Answering for Jews - hubris or ignorance?

Someone asked a question about why Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah (yet another question on this!), but added that since Paul and the others were Jews, their words carried no weight.

The following answers were posted (among others):

    1. Jews have no authority to speak for the Old Testament prophets who predicted the messiah. They've changed their own religion so much (to the rabbinic form) that they don't really understand the old version. When they become a nation of shepherds again, with a temple and animal sacrifice, they'll have the context to understand better. Until then, just read the OT for yourself. THAT is the authority on the messiah.

    2. Modern Jews believe that people like James, Peter, Paul and the other followers of Jesus were all deceived and became what you might refer to as "renegades". Sadly, they haven't bothered reading their own Scriptures objectively! They have even rewritten some of the text.

For instance, in Isaiah 53, they change the pronouns left and right. When it actually says "He was bruised for our iniquities", for instance, they change it to read "We were bruised for their iniquities."

At one time, the Jews actually believed in a Messiah. They have thrown off the Scriptures and claim that each generation has its own messiah to rescue the Jews; and that Israel is messiah to the world. (such as, changing "By his stripes we are healed" to "by our stripes they are healed.")

It's obviously intellectual suicide, since they simply do not want to believe the Scriptures as they are clearly written. They don't WANT to believe in THE Messiah. They don't like the "Christianization" of the name - they don't like the NAME "Jesus", since so many bad things were done to the Jews in the NAME of "Jesus".

But God has reserved a remnant who have not bowed the knee to the false ideology and false god that the Jews have raised up in place of God, just as in the day of Elijah

    ===================

Are these answers (which are, in effect, saying that we do not know our own scripture and we are mistaken about our religion) due to ignorance (which I hope can be discussed with all having open minds - educational experience) or hubris (we know better than you about your own religion and you are all wrong)?

    Whaddya think, folks?

  • In PA, will automatic headlights be sufficient?

We are supposed to have headlights on when wipers are on and in construction zones. I always put my full lights on when my wipers are on (better visibility for others to have my back lights AND headlights on), but will those automatic headlights (which do NOT use my back taillights) be sufficient for construction zones?

Is this a state by state decision?

    Thanks, all!

  • Question about Tallinn?

I will be staying in Tallinn for 2 weeks; work, unfortunately. However, I will be exploring on the weekend and staying at a major chain hotel.

My question is - I've been told that the water is a bit dodgy for this American and have gotten my vaccinations (including Typhoid). I keep hearing that Tallinn is a great city and technologically advanced. Does everyone keep to bottled water? How about teeth brushing? Coffee and tea?

    Thanks for your help, folks!

  • Car steering question?

I had a rental that, when driving on the highway, started (all of a sudden) to jerk right-left-right-left. It stopped jerking back and forth and then when I pulled out of a parking lot (had stopped for something), started jerking back and forth again (both car and steering wheel).

I called to have the rental company pick it up and deliver another car - which they did - but can anyone tell me what was wrong?

    Thanks!

  • When faced with a question for a particular religion, why do some not follow the guidelines (see below)?

For example, there have been some questions that ask about the Jewish point of view (or any other religion - this is just one example). Many posters rush in and answer with authority - based on THEIR religion!

I know I cannot be alone - when I answer a non-Jewish question, I make sure that the answer is to the POV of the question OR I will clearly state that this is MY POV and offer it as an interesting contrast to the question.

I have my own ideas on this, but would like to survey the R&S community. What are your opinions and what have you observed?

    Ideas?

  • Please explain this phenomenon: How can non-Jews call themselves Jews or?

spiritual Jews? That makes as much sense as me being a white Jewish woman and saying "But I'm really a black, Muslim woman, cause that's how I feel inside!". Those that follow Christ (G-d bless if that's what you believe!) cannot consider themselves Jewish! It goes against all of our beliefs! I cannot believe that so many people are "wanna-be's", but that's what it looks like!

I understand if you identify with certain Jewish rituals (they are lovely and heartfelt), you may feel you are following Jesus in his original (since he was Jewish), but to identify yourself by another's label is misleading at best and at worst, deceitful.

    Why would people do so?

  • What is your definition of a non-believer?

I've seen some that think that those who do not believe in G-d to be non-believers, some who think that those who do not believe in Jesus to be a non-believer, and (tongue firmly in cheek) those who have issues with pasta to be non-believers(!). Please do add your religious or spiritual affiliation (or if you have none.)

What is YOUR take on this question?

Please keep it CIVIL - I'm just trying to see the range of opinions and definitions.

  • Spiritually speaking, have you ever noticed that when one group is reviled, others are not far behind?

I was willing to understand her POV - we all have our opinions - until she added all the edits - esp. the last one.

The problem is, that she is not the only person I've seen to espouse this attitude.

Have you folks noticed this as well?

  • Why do some (not all!) Christians have this either/or attitude?

Check out this post (leaving off the name) and focus on the edit at the bottom - can you tell me how this is a love of Christ as opposed to a hatred of anything that does not follow this person's my-way-or-the-highway?:

    ===============================

What will the God-haters say when the day comes to meet Christ?

    Will they say:

    1) Sorry.........I never realized you were real.

    2) But no one ever told me about this.

    3) Is it too late to trust in you now?

Why not avoid these questions by turning to the only One who can save us from sin? Because remember; it's not a matter of "if" you will meet Him someday.......it's a matter of "when"

By the way, this isn't a rant.........this is a legitimate question with a plea for your response to Christ.....not to me.

    Thanks for listening

    This just in:

Not believing is the same as being an enemy of God. There is no gray area here. You're either for Him or against Him. So disbelief is the same as hate in this case.

I'm at a loss to explain.

  • Christians - Please read this article and then tell me if you still think that Jews 4 Jesus is on the up-n-up?

    http://www.jewishexponent.com/article/16676/

I think you may find out WHY we Jews tend to get upset over the tactics that Jews 4 Jesus employs. What's YOUR opinion on this?

  • Have you read this article about the tactics used by Jews for Jesus?

I found the URL on their website after reading the article. Quite intruiging!

  • Is this a religious site?

WPHL, TV17 in Philly, has a 10 second infomercial with some weird music, a phone number: "1-888-805-2550" and the words "Stop Suffering".

Has anyone called and found out what it is? They say to call at 2 AM everyday (I'm asleep, or trying to stay asleep!)

  • Anyone know whats happening with Vinh Hoa?

It was a Vietnamese restaurant around 7th and Christian in South Philly. Excellent food and a nice atmosphere. We went one day (a lot of years ago) - the sign said they went back to Vietnam. They were more upscale than the other Vietnamese restaurants. Has anyone heard of them coming back?

    Thanks!
