Jews for Jesus are a disgrace to both Judiasm AND Christianity.

Sneaky.

And that is just disgusting. With as much poverty, famine, abuse and hunger that goes on in the world, that money could be better spent on things that Jesus spoke of. That is just disgraceful.

When she says that they know more about this than you do ( with regard to not arguing about the Bible) she is of course, referring to their target audience..the Christian and the Jew who does not know their own orchard so to speak.

This is why EDUCATION is very important. They have never been successful in luring Jews who do know our own religion and they're not successful in convincing Christians who sincerely understand their own religion.

They're successful in their attempts to portray themselves as this bridge between irreconcilable difffereneces ONLY to those who don't recognize the legitimate paths of the two religions.

Christians and Jews can have genuine interfaith dialogue and brotherhood ONLY when we respect one another and honesty.

I become dismayed most when they use the tactic that Jews are attacking them for their belief in Jesus ( this increases antisemitism as Jews have clearly seen)

And I become encouraged when Christians of integrity speak out against this hijacking of Jewish identity to spread their "Great Commission".

This has never EVER been about the right of any individual to choose a path of belief in Jesus. For the Jewish commuinity this has always been about truth in LABELING and METHOD.

This article does indeed highlight the largest group's methods, but it doesn't address the splinter groups and others who try to distance themselves from Martin Meyer since the early 80s. They're methods are often more divisive and deceptive..such as sending their missionaries to Chabad to learn the walk and talk.

While these cults are still relatively small, it is their acceptance by more and more uneducated Christians who also believe that Jews are being "bigoted" rather than simply standing up for the basic right of self-determination and Jewish law, that poses the threat and danger to the Jewish people.

Think about the not too distant past. What happened when an entire continent chose to disrespect the right of the Jewish people to use Jewish law to determine Jewish identity and instead chose to embrace pseudo-scientific concepts such as a Jewish RACE?

The attempts to identify themselves as Jews does not hide from the Jewish people that their efforts use the same accusations to the Jewish people as previous attempts to do away WITH the Jewish people.

That's interesting. I now know the difference between Jews for Jesus and Messianic Judaism. The first is the evangelical organization, and the second are people the first has successfully targeted.

Thanks for this, Plushy_bear. It's really helpful to have something as authoritative as this is, given her background and experience and that of her uncle. I was particularly struck by her comment about how they long to be taken seriously as a legitimate stream as Judaism and are upset not to be. Well, they'll have to go on being upset as long as there are Jews in this world!!!
