To "Messianic Jews" - do you wear/use T'fillin?
And if you do not, how do you reconcile the admonition in the Sh'ma with not wearing T'fillin?
Thanks!
(edit - it actually suggested the correct category for once! Is the world ending?)
Suckels - your answer makes absolutely no sense. Care to elaborate?

Quotes around the term "messianic Jews" is proper because they aren't Jews. All real Jews are messianic. Those that seem to need the label of "messianic Jews" are Christians that dilute both religions (and giving both religions a black eye).
answer: I believe the clown is, once again, confused about Judaism and mistaking the T'fillin for the scroll inside the mezuzah.

I bet you're not getting any answers from the"messianics" because none of them actually know what T'fillin is.
But, if they were even to bother reconciling that they would say "I am the way the truth and the light, no one comes to my Father but through me" John 14:6
or
"For god so loved the world he gave his only begotton son; so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but shall know eternal life." John 3:16
or
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
Because they are Christians, they will fall back on these verses and a few others again and again. So they can clothe themselves in the superficial trappings of Jewish traditions and they can call themselves (dishonestly) whatever they wish. However I would seriously doubt if most of them actually take on any of the real religious customs that make us Jews (T'fillin, Shema, etc - the hard core universal stuff). Why? Because according to Christian doctrine and scripture, only faith in Christ and the blood he shed on the cross washes you clean of sin and offers you salvation. The Law is irrelevant to them. Therefore, if some of these socalled "messianic jews" follow a custom here or there, the practice is really no more meaningful (in a religious sense) than having a drink before bed, excercising at a certain time, eating pizza on a certain night or any other mundane and secular ritual.

The use of quotation marks around the term "messianic Jews" IS quite proper because none of them are Jews at all. All of them are evangelical Christians who fraudulently pose as Jews. This is plainly obvious to all Jews and should be plainly obvious to all Christians too. Denying the obvious makes you look quite foolish, Troy F.
Yes, once again Suckels the Evil Clown has displayed his complete and total ignorance of Judaism. Way to go, Suckels!

Troy: Plenty of Jews who believe in the coming of the mashiach (and are thus messianic) have answered: Hatikva, Ruth, NinjaChick, drybri, Sean, Marcuss myself- all Jewish and all believe that the mashiach will arrive in the future. What we see on these questions is a complete lack of the Christian missionaries in the Christian sect calling itself "messianic judaism" answering. My guess- complete ignorance of Judaism and real Jewish beliefs and thus an inability to answer questions where their standard missionary based answers cannot answer them. The same reason that when I ask a question based on the Torah and addressed to everyone, the only people answering are real Jews and we see nothing coming form the "messianic jewish" cult members!

Messianics have always been very, very welcome to convert TO Judaism.
They prefer not to - which is their right.
But what is NOT their right, is to remain devout *Christians* WHILE insisting they are "messianic jews".
Whether they wear Tefillin or not is irrelevant - non Jews are not required to wear it, just as non Christians don't worship Jesus and non Muslims don't pray facing Mecca.
I'm sure most Messianics are well meaning and just seeking to reconcile their Christian worship of Jesus with the fact that Jesus was Jewish.
But it would be really, really great if they would *stop* deceptively posing as 'messianic jews' when the entire world knows:
Jews do not worship either Jesus OR any other human as 'divine'.

Messianic "jews" are not jews.

I am not Messianic Jew but I do have 2 T'fillin but don't use them. One is Kosher the other is a Reform/Reconstructionist.
How? Because they are one as the Sh'ma states.

Geez, I guess if you want to stir up some serious stuff, all you have to do is use the words "Messianic" and "Jew" in the same question...think I may try a "Nazarine" question...

The reason you're not getting an answer from the Messianic Jews on here probably is because you did not address your question to them. You put quotation marks around the expression, saying, "Messianic Jews", which implies that your question is for the "so-called Messianic Jews", not the real ones. Therefore, the real Messianic Jews don't seem to be answering you.
