Has anyone ever had a religious experience while on this forum?
Examples; Been converted, had a mystical experience, fulfilled a commandment or doctrine, prayed for yourself/others etc.
Or the opposite Has anyone had faith and lost it as a result of this forum?
Essentially does anyone who is religious, regardless of tradition, view their activity on Y!A as religious behavior?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoJewish cooks - How do you make your cholent?
Anything special you use? Beef, lamb, Chicken?
I make a French "Bourguignon" style w/ wine as my liquid base, a Cajun one w/red beans and rice (beef instead of pork of course) and I'm thinking of toying with a lamb and lentil one.
Everyone has a different cholent and I always like picking up new ideas and tricks (for any recipe actually).
I realized the cooking and recipe section is kinda dead so I'm asking where I know Jews are.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat have the Romans ever given us?
They've bled us white, the bastards. They've taken everything we had, not just from us, from our fathers and from our fathers' fathers. What have they ever given us in return?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoToday marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin's Origin of Species...?
...and coincidentally, the 35th anniversary of the discovery of 'Lucy,' the Australopithecus afarensis skeleton and one of our ancient ancestors. Who will raise a toast with me in celebration of the undisputed (in the legitimate scientific community) facts of Biological Evolution?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoRabbis, If you live with non-Jewish roommates is it permissible to hang Mezuzot in your home?
During a dinner this past Sukkot, I heard someone say that when living with gentile roommates, the hanging of a Mezuzah, even on the door post of ones own room is not permitted? Is this so, and if so, why?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoQuestion for members of the LDS?
When you think about your faith, do you tend to view it as a branch of Christianity or as an emergent and distinct, 4th Abrahamic religion (the others being Judaism, Christianity and Islam - 5 if you count Baha'i)?
I'm curious given some of the key doctrinal differences between LDS teachings and traditional Christianity, as well as some of the historical, revelatory parallels with Islam.
