Fellow Jews and Noahides, which translated (on-line) Tanakh do you find to be the best?

I like what Chabad has online because I'm so familiar with it and it has the Rashi commentary. I've been using it for a long time now because of those great daily emails they send out.

I use Mechon-Mamre :-) There is also the one with the Hebrew parallel to the English , so that's good.

And I like the one on the Chabad website, that Kismet mentions above, because of the Rashi commentary.

Both use JPS; at least, that's what M-M says on its website. And I think they're both the 1917 translation, which is kinda OK but not great. The best print translation I've seen to date is Elliott Friedman's "Commentary on the Torah" although it only covers the Pentateuch.

For example, both online versions get the verb tense of Genesis 1:1 wrong, which is the first thing I look for.

I'm neither but I do like to research stuff myself, so I hope you don't mind the jump-in.

answer: I like both. Each has a different tone to the websites. I often compare the verses when quoting one or the other.

I like the translations for the most part, too.
