Where is the Blower Motor Resister in a '96 chevy silverado?
I have high speed and nothing else. I went to Napa to get some info on what it could be. In the end I was sold a new resister. The guy behind the counter couldn't tell me where to find the silly thing. Serious Chevy answers only please.

How about serious Electrical engineer answer? The problem is probably in the speed switch. So start at the switch and trace the wires back. You probably need a new speed switch. And I am sure it will be a bear to replace. I have lost a couple speeds on my Grand Am, my speeds start at 3 and go to high.
Here is some real good advice, no kidding. Go to the Car talk web site and post your question there. I had a question about my wife's car and I got excellent answers.

It's either in the engine compartment- passenger side on the firewall (basically on the other end of the glove box) large black plastic box with the resistor on top or front. Or inside the car, by the passengers feet on the firewall. It's near the blower motor, if that helps. good luck

Joe s is right. the rest are wrong. The resistor works all speeds but high because high speed goes through a relay. Actually now that i think about it, its behind the glovebox. The glove box will open all the way out to the floor without unscrewing anything. it just takes a little squeezing the sides together and letting it fall all the way open. then you should be able to see the resistor.

Should be under the dash on the passenger side underneath the glove box. You may have to remove a plastic guard to get to it.
