Im looking to buy a good PC that is able to run all PC games (without being slow or restircted) or should i get an average desktop and add a graphics card and cound card to it?

core 2 duo/quad 2.0ghz+/ amd 9X00 (phenom quad core)
8800gt/8800gtx/8800ultra (sli if possible) 512+ ram if running on a lcd of 1680x1050 or larger
2gb ram+
80%+ effieciency power supply if possible..(don't want to fry your hardware eh.. helps save power too)
power supply 500+ watts
motherboard of your choice

Gaming is *mostly* about the graphics card. You need plenty or RAM next, and probably the least important item is having the latest, hottest processor.
With most games, most of the work is done by the graphics card, so a less than stellar CPU can be compensated for with a good graphics card, but the hottest CPU available will not compensate for a crappy graphics card.
So yeah, get a mid level desktop and put the best graphics card (and upgrade the power supply to feed it) you can afford into it. A fancy sound card is not really a necessity unless you are very picky about sound.

Depends on your budget and if you are a casual or hardcore gamer. Reasonable ones are those that you DIY cos you pay a hefty fee with brand name computers

these are the important specs you need to run games smoothly:
dual core cpu (3 GHz or over) (AMD or Intel)
2 gig or over of RAM
512 mb or over graphics card (ati or nvidia)
