I really just don't care anymore.?

What should I do to get motivated to go on with life. Everything is grey and gloomy.

Yes. I can tell you that your words have moved people more than you possibly realize. Here, for example:

And in your profile, which simply reads: "Be nice to others." There is power in that. There is life in your voice. I've read through a few of your answers. You are fair and thoughtful and it's a shame you can't always see that.

Your empathy is so needed in the world today. You obviously care enough to be comforting to others and that is a wonderful trait. Don't give up.

This is a tough question, not knowing your personality or background. But generally speaking, everyone - including you - cares about something and someone. Maybe not to the extent shown in a movie drama, but a fondness and passion nonetheless.

What works for me is making a list of pros and cons, and then not looking at the list until the next morning. One gets a brighter perspective - again, generally speaking - in the morning light, or the early morning rain, whatever. Why? Because on opening my eyes, there's an immediate realization that I am still here, not underground, and I have another opportunity as long as I focus on One Day at a Time.

There's an old saying that Where there's life, there's hope. And that's basically what Life is all about. HOPE.

To my limited knowledge, the best way to get motivated is to speak openly and honestly with a counsellor or psychologist, but NOT to a close friend, if you have one.

I have only one and for most of my 28 years, lots of hail sister well met acquaintances but not a single friend.

Go somewhere alone on a short vacation for a few days and do something with your hands - swim, build sand castles, take a pottery class, anything where you work with your hands, but not so much with your brain. Get a massage. Take a walk. Once you are away from your home, I hope you will find out what is blocking you. Then you can take some action.

Get out in the sunshine alot and walk. If you are of that bent, go to church 3 or 4 times a week. Try to find things you enjoy.

I have to back Thricey on this one...

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Even as a Christian, these thoughts have entered my mind,in times of extreme emotional challenge....

Learn to think outside of yourself....There just may be a few,who are in a worse situation and state of mind, that you are called to lift up.

EDIT: Good answers, "3ryce" and "Pants"...

You may only have one life, so why kill yourself just yet? Ride it out till the bitter end.
