Deep Conditioning?

I'm not sure on how I would deep condition; do I just put in a leave in conditioner and that's it or do I have to do more than that?

Here is what I did to deep-condition my hair. It's not a quick fix like some believe. Deep conditioning is a work in progress. I have very fine, coarse hair that tends to frizz-out, but recently my hair has been softer and smoother.

    1. I shampoo my hair every other day AT THE MOST.

    2. I take one mercury-free fish oil pill every day.

    3. I use a shampoo and conditioner with oil in them. Some "ethnic" hair products have oil ingredients.

    4. I use a leave-in conditioner every day.

    5. I use a 3 minute deep conditioning product every week.

    6. The salon products are are less likely to leave your hair looking greasy if you go a day or so without shampoo.

    7. You can minipoo by powdering your hair on your off days to get the grease out.

A deep conditioner will be called a deep conditioner on the label. I think Garnier makes one that comes in a pot with a screw-off lid and is very good. Follow the back of the label - for that particular one, you leave it in for 3-5 minutes and then wash out. Using a leave in wouldn't be a deep condition. It would just be a leave in.

An excellent deep conditioner that works better than anything on the market is Kraft Mayonaise - not Miracle Whip. Just apply it all over your hair - cover with plastic wrap - leave on about 30 minutes and shampoo out. The oil and eggs will make your hair shiny, healthy and beautiful. I know it sounds weird but it really does work! I do this about every other month and my hair is great.

Most of the deep conditioners are not leave in. They're very thick, like a really thick cold cream, and you have to wash them out. If you want a really deep conditioner, I'd leave it in a little longer than the instructions say, but you will have to wash it out.

The directions should be on the bottle. I put conditioner in my hair at the beginning of my shower and wash it out at the end. That's my idea of deep conditioning.. lol

It actually depends on what productus you use for your hair. I mean there are some that are better than others. From personal experience i can say that Garnier has good products that actually do not dry out the hair, compered to the herbal essence product which totally dried my hair. grrr... lol.

Theres this one shampoo and conditioner that actually work great. Mi ex boyfriend actually recommended it to me and like at the salon they did tell me to buy that one. Its from the Paul Mitchel collection. Its a great product, but it kind of is on the pricey side (i mean considering that it is only shampoo) lol. I think each bottle runs for like $10. I dont the name of the specific one right now but umm.. it has the aqua colored top. It works really well. You should give a try.

You should put a good thick conditioner in and then cover your head with a shower cap for at least 10 minutes. Then rinse.
