No. You will not find in any part of the canon of scripture that this is specifically stated. It can be speculated that Lucifer wanted to be a son of God.

Moses 4:1 he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

It is misleading to state that Mormons believe Satan and Jesus are brothers without further explanation. Mormons believe that God the Father created all things, so He created both Jesus (God the Son), Lucifer (Satan), and all mankind. Jesus and Lucifer are "brothers" in the sense that God the Father created both of them, in the same sense that Hitler, Mother Teresa, Albert Einstein, and I are all "brothers." It doesn't imply any special affinity or friendship between Jesus and Lucifer. Obviously, they are on opposite sides of the whole good/evil divide.

The Mormon Church itself has clarified this issue: "Like other Christians, we believe Jesus is the divine Son of God. Satan is a fallen angel. As the Apostle Paul wrote, God is the Father of all. That means that all beings were created by God and are His spirit children. Christ, however, was the only begotten in the flesh, and we worship Him as the Son of God and the Savior of mankind."

    1. The Devil was born as a spirit after Jesus "in the morning of pre-existence," (Mormon Doctrine, page 192.)

    2. Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163.)

    3. A plan of salvation was needed for the people of earth so Jesus offered a plan to the Father and Satan offered a plan to the father but Jesus' plan was accepted. In effect the Devil wanted to be the Savior of all Mankind and to "deny men their agency and to dethrone god." (Mormon Doctrine, page 193; Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, page 8.)....[carm]

As in - both are Sons of God, one rebellious, one obedient.

This question has been asked numerous times in the past weeks - I think because of the Romney campaign. If we are all sons and daughters of God, and Satan was the Son of the Morning - that would make him a sibling of Christ. However, we do not promote that brotherhood - as it is demeaning to Christ. The only things that Satan cannot do, but Christ can, is redeem us from our sins, and be our intermediary to God.

We are all sons and daughters of God in a way, aren't we?

Satan is a fallen spirit child of God. He is determined to take as many of us with him as he can. He is as far from Jesus as one can be. He will never progress or have a body or receive any glory other than what his followers give him. He is damned and is miserable and wants everyone to be just like him.

Not physical, human brothers, but they are both children of God, making them spirit brothers, as we all are spirit brothers and sisters. To understand this concept to the fullest, you have to understand our views on pre-mortal life.

The historical contents of the bible show an Evolution of IDEAS in symbolism; hence, Satan, the Beast, is the Symbolism of mankinds Ego. This is a lesson in the contents of the ego and the direct symbolism of what the intent was.

The contents of the Bible, and many other sources, were the connective language used to relate to mankinds thought processes. To speak in a spritual olanguage to a non-spritual entity, mankind, is to speak a language they cannot comprehend. By relating stories, and parables and such to creat a Mosiac of an event intent on teaching truth, it was made clear of mans sprituaql Origin; Jesus was the blueprint figure, in Western terms, on "how to" find god.

The distortion you see within the very answerrs you are getting are spritualy untrue.

What you may find interesting is that at the convience of authors and speakers , they switch from Symbolism to literal meanings at the drop of a hat to convince readers they hold the one and only truth; and in this, I admit I know little of Gods true Origins other than he was the first awareness.

Was Revelation a Biblical story of doom? No, not at all, it was a story of mankinds awakening to Gods level of awarness; the Devil being tossed to the pit was about Jesus, the symbolism of Truth, finally showing mankind their true origins of the spirit and mankind finally getting it; hence, the Devil, the ego, the great Liar, a symbolism , was tossed away for 1000 years and so on.

Why let him back after 1000 years?

This "letting Satan back" is again, not a REAL BEING issue, it is about lower vibration personalities having an oppurtunity to reincarnate back to Earth to find God in the methods Jesus did. One might ask what does riencarnation have to do with Satan and ego; simply put, those lower vibration entities still possess beliefs of self, of a larger Ego still in control; as they reincarnate back to Earth after 1000 years we see wars and such returning as they bring back their own systems all based around thier Overdeveloped Ego.

Have you met a dictator whom was nice, thoughtfull and full of grace for his/her people? Me either, Ego at work...

Any war you see is a war of "principles and power" an ego Control issue.

Iraq....all Ego, show me where it is not and I'll show you a lie.

Vietnam, Ego as the U.S. wanted to show the communist "our way is a better way"...well, 58,000 GI'S killed and nothing gained and look, Vietnam is a republic-Capatilist state having open trade with the U.S.; evil communist nations do not do this....Ego.

When the Bible speaks to you and tells you Satan is the root cause of all evil and sin of man; it is the Symbolism telling each that their own ego is Satan as this evolution in language has somehow became a Being to fear "outside " of mankind, a grave error to look for solutions outside when it is within each.

There are many references to God, Jesus, other ideas about mans Origins and "fate" outside of mainstream Dogma.

All of this, all of the biblical events and issues and teaching have always been about You and I, yet, we deny this and place it all on an outside source to place blame on; and we scream to God for truth when we have held it each day.

Ego is best manifest within Religions that teach their congregations they are the only truth and there interpretations are above all others; again, Ego.

In the lesson Jesus gave in regards to "Giving Ceasar what is his and so on"...

This was about giving due regards to Truth; Ceasar represented Power of Rome and Government, while Jesus represented Truth of all things; Jesus was saying look, separate he two as one can only be true to the truth, and "I am the truth, the way, Dayspring"; he was saying follow me without offending the rest, find your way by me as I am here to show you.
