Emergency Questions for my New Kitten!?
I have bought British Blue kitten 14 weeks old. He is very friendly but I have couple of questions please help:
1) Why isn't he eating the dry food that I brought with me from the seller? He ate ham though very fast last night as his night treat. Is that a good treat or too fattening and spoiling him? I was told to feed him dry kitten baby food which i have bought from the person I bought him.
2) He slept well last night (i bought him yesterday). But he keeps peeing same spot at the entrance carpet of my home. What is best product I can buy in UK so he will STOP for good to pee that particular place? I haven't caught him in the act to spray little normal water to say 'no'!!
3) Should I worry that I have been sneezing a lot? I haven't got any allergies, but my nose is blocked and been sneezing. Will I get used to him and stop all this? Or would I go worst? I do love him!!
4) He is sooo sweet, he loves his cuddles amazing little thing!! He has a whole big room all by himself!! HELP!

1) swap him onto pouched moist food you are feeding him junk and he knows it, no cat/kitten should be eating more than 40g of dry food in any one day, it doesn't clean teeth and it is no good for bladders and kidneys. i would suggest purina for the kitten food and then when he reaches about six months swap onto adult food he could have adult food now as there is no nutritional difference between the two my kitten has been on adult food since he was about 12 weeks old he prefers it (more flavours). ham is fine once in a while but not every night. you can buy cat/kitten treats
2)it i good he slept well as it shows he is content. to deter weeing in inappropriate places try using tesco 5in1 surface spray grapefruit smell it stopped my kitten recently when he took to having'accidents'.
3)i seem to have this problem with kittens (mine is 9 months old) take an antihistamine for a few days and see if that helps and gradually reduce it as you get used to him i take one every day then one every other day and so on until you just have one and then stop. but you may have this cold that is around as that starts with sneezing
4) i know how sweet and loving cats are i have three two adults (mum and dad) ad the last in the litter that no one wanted ue to a heart defect it doesn't slow him down though. introuce him to his new home slowly. ask you vet to show you how to trim claws and get a nice big scratching post even at this age he will enjo climbing it. and enjoy his kittenhood they grow up way to fast.

Hmm. Many questions. I can only try to help, but the only real solution is to wait and see (terrible answer) for some of them.
1) Your kitten is probably suffering seperation anxiety. Give him time to get over this. Remember, for the first fourteen weeks of his life, he was surrounded by other cats and now he's the only one. His digestion is probably a little unsettled.
Do not give him treats until he starts eating his normal food again. It could upset his stomach and you might find something a little more gross on your carpet. A day or two should resolve this. (Ham is not a good a treat, if you wish to give him meat, give him leaner meats. Ham is indeed, too fatty.)
2) Cat pee. I hate cat pee. Visit a local petstore and ask an employee (or better yet, visit a local groomer) and find out a product safe for carpets and pets that will remove the scent he keeps going back to. Chances are if you get rid of that scent, he might stop peeing there. Maybe. He is a cat after all.
3) Allergies suck, but if you have no known allergies then it could be something else and not your kitty. Time will tell. (Hate to say it, but give it a week or so. That will rule out outdoor allergens and weather reactions.)
4) Everybody loves a sweet kitty! Keep playing with him. The more room he has to roam, the more exercise he'll get. (Gotta run off those ham treats!) Hope I helped.

1) He is still young so try making his dry biscuits moist by soaking them in some boiling water for a few minutes and then on the side of that give him some moist can Kitten food. All cats need their wet and dry food. (you can stop soaking the dry food in a week or two just do it long enough so he's used to it) He would love ham but don't give it to him too often as it can make him sick and you also dont want him getting too fat..lol. you should also try a little bit of kitten milk as a night treat..he'd like that..you can get this from the supermarket :)
2) You need to get some sort of pet repellent that you can spray on the peeing spot they hate the smell of it. Go to the pet shop to get it and the staff there should be able to help you out..Does he have a kitty litter? Train him to use one and remember they won't use it if it's dirty...fussy cats :)
3) I'm not too sureabout the allergy question you'd have to go to a chemist and ask..but my friend is alergic to most animals and she has a cat but has seemed to adjust to it...But yeah i'd go see a doctor or something for that question..
Well i hope you have lots of fun with your new little kitten..Make sure he has lots of different toys as he will love to play all the time and also maybe you should think about getting a cat scratching post! he would love that and plus it saves the claws going into the furniture..lol
Good luck with him, he seems like a cute lil kitty :)

Vinegar soaks on the carpet spot will take the smell away and wont hurt him. Its also cheap and it wont leave a mark or bleach the carpet. You should also use a hair dryer to comletely dry the area so it doesnt get mildewed. Also try moving his litterbox to the place where hes peeing to get him used to the box itself. Then when hes using it consistently move it to the place where you want him to be using it. As for the food, that could be separation anxiety like someone else said and ham has too much salt in it for his tiny little body. Salt on an ongoing basis can cause kidney/liver problems over time. For your allergies I would try some Benadryl. Its an over the counter allergy medicine but if it continues you should consult a doctor. If you do turn out to be allergic there are products safe to use on your cat that can reduce dander, including baths. Congratulations on being a "parent" and please dont forget to get the vaccinations and spay/neuter!

Calm down. The answer to your questions is coming. I have three cats, all raised at different ages that we went through the same thing. We first try milk with the oldest one who did not even eat what his first owner gave him. Just plain milk, but if you are worried, buy kitten chow, his stomach may be sensitive. He keeps peeing to mark his territory. He is a male after all. He need to make sure if another cat come in, they understand, This is my turf, back off. Your sneezing is probably a result of you cuddling with him. all his hair may be irritating ,not an allergy. This happened to my Little brother. Don't worry, your not spoiling him sense he have his own room, but make sure you give him attention. But if this persist, i think you should got to a vet. But experiment with him a little bit before taking him. Try different kitten chow, may be he wants attention. He may not even like the flavor food as well, instead of tuna flavored, try beef or chicken. Then try wet-food. He might like something moist like ham.

1/ try mixing the kitten buiskets with kitten can food, giving the kitten ham is ok but dont do it too often.
2/ if u have a kitty litter lock the kitten in a room like the laundry and make sure the kitten knows wat it is used for.
3/ u may have a allergie towards cats, go to ur doctors about it.
hope that helps
