Have you ever heard another motorcycle company spout BS such as this?
http://www.ducati.com/bikes/techcafe.jhtml?detail=...
Boy I though Harley Davidson was bad when it came to bullsh*t propaganda but this... this just raises the bar. Do you think, they really think we're all this stupid?
Yes I have ridden a Ducati. Yes it's a good bike but THAT is just ridiculous. About 40% of what they're saying is just flat out false. Another 50% is just opinion. The final 10% is acctually true. And no I'm not going to sort it out for you. Just use common sense.
Ducati is someqhat unique yes. Instead of a plastic wrapped high revving inline 4 you get a high revving plastic wrapped V-twin. There is also the dry clutch on most models as well as the desmodromic (desmodummy) valves. Even though these things are unique they certainly are not better or superior in any way. In fact the only thing Ducati is truly good at is moto gp and that has almost nothing whatsoever to do with what we get on the street. And they even use a 4 cylinder engine in motogp so think that proves that the Japanese have the superior street engine right there.

I don't agree with them either but they are trying to sell their bike. Let them say what they want, I'll do my own research. I have owned several Motorcycles and I have always bought motorcycles. I have never bought a label, image, brand, friends, penis enhancer or anything else. When I go to buy my next motorcycle, I will look for the best bike for the money. That next bike could be a Harley or a Ducati but only if my research proves them to be the best value and not because they are bashing the other brands.

Have you ever actually ridden a Duc??? Outclasses Jap bikes hands down. The ad is right. They only sell about 4 models and they are all developed from a race model. Ducati dominates the gran prix circuit. They sound better than anything Japan has ever put out, have more tractable torque than a bulldozer and look better than anything I've ever seen. I'm not a Jap bike hater...I logged a lot of miles on both of my Interceptors. But my first Duc converted me. EVERYTHING about those bikes is superior except maybe their finicky nature. All ad campaigns are hype, that much is understood. But this ad is essentially the truth about Ducati. The Ferrari of Motorcycles!
Taxicab...Ducati does not get a weight break. They race in the 999 class and all bikes have the same weight requirements. They weigh less because of their design.
Bob...I agree with you to an extent. I have owned two Honda Interceptors and a Yamaha and loved them as well. I appreciate all motorcycles as they all bring something interesting to the table. But I fell in love with Ducati because of the overall quality and the way the bike functions as a whole. This is achieved because Ducati only makes a few models. It's the same with Aprilia. Honda and the other jap companies do many things very well, but Ducati does one thing and does it in a superior manner. The best example I could give is the difference between a Camaro Iroc Z and a Corvette. The Iroc is a great car, the Vette is an experience.

The Japs are cold hearted. They're bikes are neither quirky or finicky in nature. If a bike has a quirk, it sure the hell is fixed as soon as possible.
I saw the last ad for Harley , I felt it was degrading. The people in it looked they ran a meth lab. It looked like they enjoyed the freedom of not being in jail. Who is truly attracted to that life style?
I wonder if well to do Italians are the exact counterparts to the folks riding Harleys in the US?
People are going to find what their looking for. whether it be the "Ferrari of motorcycles or "the freedom of HD."
I'm more attracted to the Ducati nonsense over the Harley nonsense.
I try not to judge folks on what they ride, just hope they enjoy the bike, not the image behind it.

Just take a look at the Race records.
Ducati are on another level at the moment.
They have only been racing in MotoGP for what seems like 5 minutes are have won the greatest [ and only title worth mention ] under all the Jap noses.
I have had the pleasure to own a couple of Ducatis for the road ( none on the track ) and they were just amazing bike. Faultless.
That link you posted was not BUllSHIT, it was the truth my friend.

Have you ever ridden a Duc? My buddy has an ST4 and we'll swap every now and then. That bike is awesome. Tons of low end torque and that engine/exhaust is one of the sweetest sounds I've ever heard.
On the down side, they are quirky... but that is the price to pay for riding a unique motorcycle.

Dude whats jammed in your rectum? Oh ya that little jap screamer bike. Listen dude, Ducati makes a fine machine and of course they are going to take pride in it. And they need to come up with marketing that will sell bikes against the "Big Four"'s gigantic advertisment budgets. And what do you have agains't Harley-Davidsons??? Another fantastic machine with fantastic people backing it. For your information not all of us are trying to do 170mph on a piece of japanese tin-foil while hucking loogies at every other rider on the road.

It would seem apparent you have a lot to learn about motorcycles. Ducati makes a superior machine, they always have.

Have you ever been on a Ducati????? My husband's family are all avid riders, have owned multiple bikes/brands - and that is all they ride now
- Deckard2020Lv 51 decade ago
Yes they dominate Superbike because they get a displacement advantage over the 4 cylinder bikes.

Now look at as how long does a bike have to run to finish a race... maybe there is truth in their advertising!
