How to get better and be ready for track?

OK, I need help, I want to get faster because track is coming soon, and I gotta get my endurance up. I'm 15, about 5'5" and about 95 lbs. Yes, grossly underweight for my height. I blame genetics, exercise and metabolism. Anyway, back to the matter.

I had asthma as a baby and it hasn't been as bad since I was 10, maybe. But I run out of breath very quickly. The only races I've been able to run decently during my years of track in middle school were the 400 m or any events shorter than that. So, I want to do well in track for once, can any of you come up with a training program to help train my anaerobic endurance and speed? If you can, add in training for the long jump. My distance range was about 10-12 ft in 8th grade, while some other kids from another school(our track coaches sucked in 7th/8th, the cool and good coach went on maternity leave after 6th grade) were doing about 13-15 ft, maybe? Anyway, if you guys could help me, thanks in advance.

    dude im like exactly like u, except im 14 and 140, i get outta breath way easy, i joined wrestling and its helping me crazy, i run 5 miles a week minimum, it may sound like alot but it gets really easy after a while, but ya, u should do wresling. e mail me and ill be glad to show u my workouts

    well for one thing, your a guy so you can get a lot better as you get older naturally in high school because your not done developing.

    You should do cross country! you might think you can't do a 5k race, but anyone who joins does get through the finish line without walking. Doing cross-country helped my endurace dramatically, but because the seasons over (consider it next fall!) you should run minnimun 2 miles a day at least 3 days a week to get ready for track. remember you don't need to run it in the begining, you can go as slow as you like as long as you do the distance and NOT walk!!!!! (it's possible ya know). Even if you do a 100m event its the best for you. thanks to cross country now my coach can ask me to go do a 100m dash, and i finish still feeling like i should run the mile race next =]

    Again, IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO A 2 MILE JOG WITHOUT WALKING it! and don't bother timing yourself. after the first week or maybe even 2, you begin to get used to jogging that distance and now is when you should start picking it up and pushing yourself. now you can time yourself. you may think you can't do distance because of your asmtha but distance running helps to get ride of it.

    prerunning stuff: remember that you need distance shoes, which can be any athleitc/running shoe that has at least 1in of support on the back.

    if your running distance don't run on the track because you will put too much pressure on your leg's and that can really mess you up when track starts. go out on park runs or around the neighborhood or at least run on the turf. ( running out on terrain such as up/down hills help you build alot more stregth)

    please do a warm-up jog of 1-2 laps, and then stretch. after you finish your run, stretch again. this will definatly reduce any chance of injury, and muscle ackeness.

    The hardest part is the beginning!!! so don't quite. if you just do this 1month before track starts, you will be in super shape (only 4 weeks man!)

    if ever you feel that something is off, listen to your body and take a break. You would rather be a bit out of shape for track, instead of missing your whole season due to injury.

    ***you should by then have no trouble at all running this distance by the end of the month. the longest race your allowed to do in track is the 2mile, so now imagine how much easier it will be for you doing a shorter race.

    don't worry about the speed part, after you get the distance down, the track coaches can help you with speed sense their the experts.

    As u said, u r suffering from Asthma.. Breathless may be dangerous for u.. u must not indulge in any such sport which ur doctor does not approve of.. I may need to caution u by an example.. in my neighbourhood, there was a boy of 16 years.. He had similar problem as u mentioned.. when he returned from joging in the morning, he died at the door step and couldn't even give a bell.
