What's with the tons of Bible verses being used to prove stuff?
Some people here just cut and paste verse after verse from the Bible and seem to think that it proves their point. Tell me, how is quoting a bunch of Bible verses going to convince someone who doesn't believe the Bible of ANYTHING?!?!?!?!?
It's sort of like quoting the Qur'an to prove Islam or the Book of Mormon to prove Mormonism. It just doesn't work, folks!

Uncle Remus 54 - You wrote, "The salvation of the soul there is no other book other than the Bible that can tell man how God will save a soul." - How do you know that? How do you know that it is the Bible and not some other book, the Qur'an, for example?

It doesn't *prove* anything except the person's opinion. Does quoting from Peter Rabbit prove anything?

Sometimes a person who uses scripture ( Biblical ) knows what they are trying to communicate. Sometimes they are not very good at it. Those who are well studied might produce a quote that really has to do with what is being talked about. Sometimes a person can't understand a well placed quote because they do not have the spiritual ability to discern what is being said. They lack the guidance brought by the Holy Spirit.
That's why sometimes it's a good well used quote which is not understood by some, and there are poorly used quotes that do not belong because the meaning of it is not understood by the answerer.
That's why I hope to see more people IM or E-mail someone who seems to understand what it is that they are talking about, instead of depending upon the shotgun effect everytime they ask a question about Christianity.

In a court of law. Lawyers cite cases to defend their positions before a judge and jury. The salvation of the soul there is no other book other than the Bible that can tell man how God will save a soul.

I hear you. A lot of people think that the bible is like a teacher's edition to the book of life, and take what it says, or the many embarrassing and ridiculous interpretations of that what it says, as some kind of truth.
It's a book. Poorly written, impossible to decipher, and utterly useless in the conventional sense. Symbolically, it has the great power and all that nonsense, but in truth, it's a waste of paper...

THANK YOU!
The Fact is, if the asker wanted to read bible passages he would go do just that.
We can all find Christian and Bible websites and search by subject then read.
A little is ok but some good explanation would be preferred. - like in Bible study. Do Christians ask questions at bible study and does the instructor simply read bible answers as answers? Is there no discussion?
Actually, I bet it does happen just like that! lol
Source(s): what would be funny is if someone would cut and paste a big bible answer now. - Anonymous1 decade ago
This is a Religion and Spirituality forum.
Why do so many get upset when verses from the bible are quoted here? That's almost as baffling as atheists obsessing over something they claim to have no believe in.
Your complaint is like going to the Psychology section and complaining when someone quotes from Freud.

Lets think Christians believe the Bible is Gods inspired words.its the truth we live by. One has to judge what the words do! Do they have no effect on people or do they radically Change lives! For me it radically changed my life, I was atheist for 30 years. I have a B.S. degree in medical field,if science can give you peace joy and love and rock solid evidence that it is true, I would still be an atheist! However after The emptiness of seeing things that are passed as fact dis proven time and again led me to a deeper search for me I found truth in the Gospel of Jesus Christ,I have so much evidence for him personal that I cannot deny the reality of him,Open your eyes he who truly seeks truly finds!
