stripping your membranes?
so im 40 wks on sat :D i went to the dr today and she said im 2.5-3 cm dilated and 50% effaced.. and she stripped my membranes.. i was too excited about the 3 cm 50% business to ask, but what is stripping the membranes?

its like an internal. the midwifes separates the mucus from the cervix, she does this in 1 circular motion with her index finger. i was told that if you still dont go after 3 then they induce you. it also stimulates hormones to naturally induce labour, so sex does this too. it can be a bit uncomfortable but its over very quickly. i had 2 then went into labour the next day.

stripping the membranes si when they separate the baby sac from the wall...hoping to get labor going.
you shoudl always always ask the doctor what shes doing..

this is suppose to help progress labor and you really should have ask your Dr what he was doing and why?
