Need help with a speech of introduction?

I've been assigned a speech of introduction which compares and contrasts two aspects of my life. For example, I can talk about something I love and hate, my greatest accomplishment and greatest embarassment, my favorite place and least favorite place, etc. It has to be 2-3 minutes long and my only aid are notecards with keywords and a few sentences written on them. Writing is my strong point ... I am not a public speaker. I believe I am going to use the love/hate topic. Traffic is something I hate, so I could use cell phones, old people, etc. as examples for why I hate drivng. If I stared out with this, what would my attention getter be?

Everyone knows the feeling. You wake up, get ready, and are out the door on time for once only to sit in traffic and have to follow the teenager texting at every red light. Traffic, no one enjoys it yet its something everyone has to experience. Traffic these days has become so bad, steryotypes about asians being bad drivers and the elderly driving exteremly slow have come about. Will it ever stop? or something like that...

    good luck!

aah let me start by saying you picture is hot. and then ill say , start with something dramatic, something that will get everyone saying whoa! the message doesn't have to change just how it;s said or interpreted.

All cars suck! (thats a bit extreme but people will react to that) then you can mellow it down a bit. But not too much that you loose your audience. That's what i do and more often than not, it gives me success.
