After baptism reception party?
My seven year old wants to be baptised in the Baptist church. I was wondering is it appropriate to have a reception afterward?

It's a great idea.
The first followers of Christ would fast for the days preceding the baptism. The people would be baptized, and then anointed with oil. The whole church would all celebrate communion, and then have a large meal, celebrating the new members of the faith.
It's appropriate, and it's an excellent idea.
Contact the pastor, and see if the pastor wants to be involved.
That said . . . seven years-old is rather young to be baptized in the Baptist church. Has the child been involved in a pastor's class of some sort, to help teach what it means to be a Christian?
Godspeed.

I was once a Baptist and I've never seen a reception at the church. However, I think it's appropriate.
We usually have dinner as a family and give the person a gift, etc.
A great idea would be to serve wedding cake - since we are the Bride of Christ.
I do think it's important to celebrate!

Seven? Wow, that's pretty young isn't it? But anyway, never been to a baptism reception, but I like the idea. What better thing to celebrate than another soul coming to God?

My little girl is also seven and was Baptisted. We had a party for her. It is a very important step in her life, and deserves to be celebrated!

Yes you can have a get together... And on the cake you can put "congratulations on your baptism".

Why not? It will maybe help the child to remember that act taken better.

Yes. I think she will appreciate this on one of her special days. It will probably make it more memorable for her.

Why is the child telling you where (s)he wants to be baptized? What guidance are you providing? Never mind the party...
