Why Wasn't He Impeached?
It is now abundantly clear, the administration willfully orchestrated our march into the Iraq war through a series of deliberate misleading statements and lying.
Study: False statements preceded war
The study concluded that the statements "were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses."

Now do you know why I go the hell out? As much as so many think that America is the land of everything that is good, that went out years ago.
I used to believe in America, now I know its lost its edge under an onslaught of right wing propaganda, smearing and lying.
Where I live now, the PRC, is slowly morphing into what we once were, while we are slowly morphing into what they once were.

Jim, this doesn't surprise me in the LEAST. Pick up a book called, "Takeover" by Charlie Savage and it is CHILLING. Cheney AND BUSH should be impeached. I don't understand WHY the dems weren't doing anything about it. I'm starting to think of them (repubs and dems) as blurring into one party. Plus, the Bush family was so buddy buddy with the Saudis...AND the bin Ladins. I completely feel that everything in government now is a sham and is rigged. I am still going to vote as an Independent but ever since I was old enough to vote there's never been anyone out there that rocked my socks COMPLETELY. I don't care WHAT you Neocons say, I still admire Clinton. He STILL looks Presidential. Yes, what he did in his private life was wrong, but he's not responsible for the death of thousands and thousands of American KIDS, now is he? I can't even LOOK at Bush on CNN without a feeling of nausea. I'm getting my passport ready. I am out of here. Halliburton has created about 800 *detention centers* which stand empty but are guarded 24/7. They're supposedly for *Homeland Security* ( a phrase which makes me more suspicious than ever.) I firmly believe these *detention centers* were created for dissidents (yes, OUR citizens) who do not agree with the Neocon way. What's coming up is going to make the Great Depression look like a piece of chocolate cake. Mahalo.

Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld provided the "intelligence." George Tenet, the Director of the CIA assured the President that the "intelligence" was "rock solid," and the case for war was a "slam dunk." Colin Powell, the Secretary of State, abused his perceived honesty to make the case to the world at the UN, with "actual evidence." Maybe they should all shoulder some of the blame. We all know Bush isn't the most intelligent person, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he really believed the lies and misinformation.

I wondered why as well, if not for Iraq, how about all the other things. Lets see, if we impeached Bush, we'd have to impeach Cheney because he was SO involved. The next in line would be who? Pelosi? Since she took impeachment off the table, would you really want her for President? She's already a failure and a disappointment. Besides, I'm sure that Bush has already used executive orders to shield himself and his cronies from any wrong doing. How much do you want to bet that he will totally pardon Libby before he leaves office? For those that think Bush walks on water, just think of all the legal loopholes he has opened up for all the Presidents to come, Republican, Democrat, good or bad. They will be able to twist the laws to fulfill their fantasies.

Your Confucious quote is basically wrong. Life isn't simple, and that is the problem. It was not just a matter of the Dems getting up and doing it. There is a process in place, and the Dems knew they never had enough support to get that process moving.
And don't forget. Congress LET them go to war in the first place! Impeaching the President would implicate many congressmen as well, Republican and Democrat alike.
Impeachment was never the answer. Americans smartening up and voting appropriately was what needed to be done, and we collectively failed to do it. The impeachment movement was not big enough or organized enough. The Congress represents the people, but sometimes the people need to kick them in the butt to get them to act. It never happened. It is everybody's fault.

"Pelosi: Bush Impeachment `Off the Table’
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi promised Wednesday that when her party takes over, the new majority will not attempt to remove President Bush from office, despite earlier pledges to the contrary from others in the caucus." -- The New York Times, November 8, 2006

It seems so clear that this administration has committed a number of impeachable offenses. And I just don't know why the so-called opposition hasn't even tried to do something about it.
But we can draw one conclusion; the democrats have surrendered and are defeated.
The only thing we can do is to vote for a progressive third party. I'm going with the Greens. If they can get a decent chunk of the vote, then it will force the party that is supposed to be progressive choose once and for all whether they really are or not.
Will this maybe hand a victory to the republicans? yup, it happened in 2000. But that's the price we have to pay. And it might work out better in the end; we'll give them more chances to disgrace themselves completely. And it's still better than surrendering.

I love how any organization can somehow get their hands on the most secure and confidential documents and somehow those documents that no one else ever gets to see, proves how bad or good someone really was. Nonprofit organization instead of professinal and respected outlets.
Plus he never committed an impeachable offense, and lets be honest, "If There Was" a reason to impeach Bush and then get a conviction would take years and years, focus on your next President.

The simple answer is the democrats knew they would not have enough votes in the senate to convict. but Purr Girl is probably right.

Impeachment is costly to an already overly asked public, but,on the other hand, private citizens(which, everyone no longer in public office become, are NOT subject to taxpayer support...Smart people wait....
