Christians, does creationism harm the faith?
St Augustine wrote this;
"Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, [..] and this knowledge he holds as being certain from reason and experience. Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking nonsense on these topics; and we should take all means to prevent such an embarrassing situation, in which people show up vast ignorance in a Christian and laugh it to scorn. The shame is not so much that an ignorant individual is derided, but that people outside the household of faith think our sacred writers held such opinions, and, to the great loss of those for whose salvation we toil, the writers of our Scripture are criticized and rejected as unlearned men. If they find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe...

I think you said it pretty well. For those we're trying to win to the faith we shouldn't be throwing creationism out there because it looks like foolisness to the world. It comes across as myth to those who don't know God, and I think it creates a stumbling block to those we're trying to win. Plus, the ideas many have on creation is erroneous theology.

this is a tad biased. I propose, there have been Christian extremists going a teeny bit loopy and killing human beings too. I bear in techniques while a number of them concept it grew to become right into a stable concept to kill medical doctors who carried out abortions. And by the comparable token, no longer all Islamic extremists blow up faculties. I, for one, am worried approximately extremism in all this is varieties. A fervent concept in something is stable to a factor, notwithstanding it could additionally lead a guy or woman to accomplish a little fairly weird and wonderful stuff.

Christianity was ruined from the start because it is based on the false assumption that the bible is the word of GOD. Jesus rejected the god and laws of Moses. Be smart and do the same. Think about this: the only laws or commandments Jesus followed were to love GOD and others as Himself. He refused to stone the woman caught in adultery and He worked on the sabbath repeatedly. He was repeatedly falsely accused of blasphemy, making Himself equal to GOD, and healing by the power of the devil.

I am always a little amazed at how a 4th-century Christian can make more sense than a current-day one.
See also Thomas Aquinas and his 'proofs' (I do not agree with them but at least they are well-constructed) and the current trend of using a banana or a rainbow to 'prove' an intelligent designer exists.

Undoubtedly. There is amazement in the UK at the rejection of science taking place in certain church circles in the US and as a Christian I am now continually battling against those who point to this characteristic of the church in the US.
It applies both tp creationism and issues of sexuality.

Augustine was a rationalist.
edit:
The reason of man does not determine truth.

You evolved from a slug.
Also organize and condense your thoughts, its way too much nonsense to read.
