Update:

I'm not against them working here, I'm from WEST TEXAS, just be legal. my home town of pop.2000 spend 2 million in 4 yrs on illegal deporting. In California , if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico , it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupt hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Lowering the fuel cost . Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, 'Mexican Visitor's Lament' 10/25/07. If 20 million illegal aliens returned 'home', the U.S. Economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn't be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 Billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local, state and city coffers.

as for the cost of food, try buying in the winter, where's it from?

Update 2:

keep it going!!!

Each state is going to have to take responsibility for its own illegal alien problems.

It's sad that only 2 states have taken proactive steps to address the issue, so far, and until more of them do, we should not expect the gutless politicians in Washington to take it any more seriously than the states.

Do I believe a statistic? it truly is an extremely stupid question. My answer is "no", i've got not got faith that unlawful aliens are killing precisely 12 people an afternoon. in actual fact that all of us got here from different countries initially, except you're a close-by American, and who're we to place regulations on who else can come and prosper right here? The humorous element is that an undesirable lot of those Republican anti-immigration nutjobs are professing to be Christians, and what would desire to be greater rightious than telling people to stay in thier own impoverished usa, go through, and die so as that we could have somewhat greater elbow room. in case you're heavily worried that illegals are killing greater of those "rightful" people than this pointless and greed fueled conflict why do no longer you propose some thing sensible, like combating the conflict and spending the billions of greenbacks that finally end up in Haliburtons wallet on fixing our poverty project by making use of becoming jobs and investment courses for whoever desires to be a effective area of our society.

To first poster. A farmer doesn't get paid any more or less for his produce no matter WHO he hires to pick it. He pockets the profit he gets by hiring an illegal criminal alien. In other words, it's a MYTH that the price of produce would go up if illegal aliens were not here. The cost of "picking the produce" is a very small percentage of the entire cost of getting produce to market anyway...common sense.

Only 17% of illegal criminal aliens work in"agriculture" anyway.

Do you think we're gonna pay $150 for a motel room at Motel 6 if illegal criminal aliens are deported because they aren't working as a janitor or maid there anymore??

Are we gonna pay $15 for a hamburger a McDonalds if illegal criminal aliens are deported?

Are we going to pay $5 million dollars for a house if we no longer have illegal criminal aliens working in construction??

That "picking produce" argument is SO lame!!

    I agree 100% Whiz.

If taking into account total expenditures for getting produce to market, and the cost of "picking the produce" was 5% of that cost, say it increased to 10% of the cost after deporting the illegal aliens, we could realistically see an increase of around 5%, perhaps a bit more.

And that's even agreeing with the poster that the consumer absorbs the cost of the labor, which is FALSE. Your statement is true, the farmer gets paid the same for his produce no matter who he hires to pick his produce.

    I agree...it's common sense.

Devastated is a better word> Enforce the laws >Paying more for food> If they raised the price for what they make hiring illegals to hire legals> We the people won't buy there product>There going to let them rot no> They might try to raise the price but it won't work> Fine them for hiring them> Then they will understand>

When the politicians and big business get together the smell of pork, dead presidents and lobbyist's cheap colonges fill the air.

They ones who have the power to help the publc are too busy helping themselves.

Start on your state level, ask for laws similar to Oklahoma's HB1804 ( http://webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/2007-08HB/HB1804... )

"when all taxes paid (direct and indirect) and all costs are considered, illegal households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more than $10 billion in 2002. We also estimate that, if there was an amnesty for illegal aliens, the net fiscal deficit would grow to nearly $29 billion."

That is not $338 billion, sorry

Are you really willing to pay an extra $5 for lettuce and strawberries? That's why we still have them.
