Cat breeders who register with TICA?

I was looking at the standards for several breeds on TICA's web site today and noticed that they all had this same item in the Show Rules regarding disqualification: "a cat showing evidence of intent to deceive (216.10)". ?!?!?!?! Breeders, could you please explain what this clause means? I'm praying it's not what it sounds like!

That means if you do something "artificial" to the cat...like say DYE some part of it to make it meet the standard, that is "deception" on the part of the exhibitor, and grounds for DQ.

There are a LOT of ways exhibitors could decieve the judge!!!! Sad, but true!! Happens in dogs too.

It means permanently altering the appearance of a cat to give it an unfair advantage in the judging ring. This could mean using permanent hair dye to make a red cat "redder" or having teeth pulled to correct a bite, things like that. This rule is included in the hopes that it will make exhibitors show their animals in their natural state and prevent unethical and possibly inhuman alterations just to obtain a title.
