AMD Turion vs. Core 2 Dou?
well I am in the market for a new laptop so I always had my eye on the Acer Ferrari but always bought something else, right now I am using a Dell Core Duo 1.83 GHz and I want to change it, so my question is that if I buy an Acer Ferrari AMD Turion 2.0 GHz with 2048 mb of ram, will it be as good as a 2.0 GHz core 2 duo with 2048 mb of ram.
and kindly if you can then please mention the Pro's and Con's of an AMD processor, and its advantages and disadvantages over an Intel Core 2 Duo.
Thanks

The Intel will be faster, the Core 2 Duos are superior to the Turions. They perform more work at the same clock speed. As for pro's and con's, well the pro of the AMD is that it is cheaper, the con being it is slower, pretty straightforward. One last thing, if you note the date on the CNET article reviewing the two, its is from Nov 2005, things have changed since then.

Core 2 duo is far faster than the AMD, that is why I switched to Intel from AMD(been using AMD for 6 years)

There really isnt much difference, at least to me. Its a brand thing, like ATI and Nvidia. Both should be able to handle tasks the same way, however, there are some differences. google it and find out. This link is a review of AMD and Intel processors by CNET. The winner was AMD, but you can make your own judgements.
