At what point while Heath Ledger was mixing his cocktail of 6 ... yes 6 .. different prescription medications?

did he think .... this is probably not a healthy thing to be consuming?

Some people on here are making out like he took an aspirin and suddenly dropped dead.

Get real, he delibrately took a huge variety of prescription medication and probably took more of each than he should of anyway.

My issue is with people trying to paint him whiter than white. This is a man who was a drug addict and left behind a 2 year old without a father.

And yet we laud him?

What a strange old world we live in. Here is a quote from Reuters.

"The US Drug Enforcement Administration announced it would probe the doctors who gave the 28-year-old actor the drugs which, taken together, shut down his body until he died.

Tests on Ledger's blood detected six different drugs, including narcotic painkillers, anti-anxiety pills and sleep medication.

"We have concluded that the manner of death is accidental, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications," a statement from the medical examiner's office said."

I think it's important we respect the dead. He may have lived his life as a drug addict, but when his daughter gets older she'll get curious and do a little research, I'd feel awful if all she came across were slurs from angry fans.

Chances are he had done it before. Every celebrity magazine reports that he had trouble sleeping, thus why he had anti anxiety medication and sleeping pills prescribed. Those along with pain killers were found. Did they mention if he had a previous injury? Why exactly he was on a pain med? Also, one thing that's been nagging me is how Olsen's private security got there before police did... something makes me think she had prescription medication that she either gave or sold to him with her name on it or an alias that her security removed from the scene. That may be a crazy conspiracy on my part, but it seems to fit with the rest of the picture.

He lived in Hollywood, where everything is in excess. Celebrities get so much for free, including drugs. I'm not surprised that physicians prescribed him oodles of medications, he was a media icon and had enough money to persuade them that it was in their best interest to treat him by writing scripts. He partied hard and he's probably had a lot of close calls in the past and didn't figure this would be one. He was naked though. If you plan on committing suicide would you want to be found naked? I think he just started taking them, he probably became immune to their effects and had to increase his dosage to feel any relief.. he may have been drinking at the time which only worsened the effects, they mixed together and turned toxic and he passed out.

No matter if he was a previous drug addict or a sad excuse for a father, he's still a man that's dead that has left a lot of people behind that will greatly miss him. It is a Hollywood tragedy, but next month there'll be another- that's the way it goes with the lifestyles of the rich & the famous.

I guess most of the time people try and say only nice things about people once they die. Also, I think the difference is that these were prescription drugs rather than illegal drugs. And the fact that they were prescribed to him by doctors makes it not his fault. The thing I would like to know is if all 6 were prescribed to him by one doctor to be taken when needed, even all six in one day. Or did he go around to different doctors with a different problem to each and each doctor gave him a prescription. And because he did this no one was able to warn him that it would be a lethal combination together. I always mention medications I am taking whenever a doctor prescribes me with a new medication. But in saying that sometimes it is easy to take many differenr medications in one day. I guess you could take the contraception pill, panadol for a headache and later that day neurfen as the panadol didn't help, as well as a vitamin and an anxiety tablet to help you relax and sleep as well as a nausea tablet if you are feeling sick. See how easy it is to take 6 different medications in one day? And these are all medications I have in my house! I guess maybe he wasn't thinking about the harm it could do but he just wanted to get some sleep. Also, how do they know if it was accidental or he was trying to kill himself? That is what I don't understand!

Its terrible about Heath Ledger and the news is still so hard to swallow. He was a very talented actor and many people loved and enjoyed his work. He was great in Candy if anyones seen that. Hillarious in A Knights Tale and The Brothers Grimm. He was wonderful in The Patriot and beyond excellent in Brokeback Mountain. His talent will be missed greatly.

Taking the advice of supervisors or professionals is something we all do, and we usually trust those individuals to know what is in our best interest.

In 2003 while working the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster (12 hour days, 7 days a week), I became sick with brochitis and pneumonia. My supervisor gave me the names of 3 OTC medications to take. At the time, I felt it was a good idea because I wanted to get better to get through the rough workdays doing search and rescue in the piney woods. The combination of them made me very drowsy...and in hind-sight, taking that combination was a bad idea.

you have a society who thrives on gossip and bull **** and its the bull shhiitt that people thrive on so thats why it is made out to look like what it really isnt, and because he was famous in his own way they dont want to ruin what he had already made of him self by saying he took an overdose of pills which he rightfully did in his own home probbably because like so many men do get deppressed when they break up witht heir partners and have a child they will no longer see every day and hour which heath did with ichelle williams

Yes I suppose being all of 28 years old he should have known better than the doctor that administered them like Elvis did.

He'd probably done it so many times in the past and got away with it,he thought it wouldn't kill him, however, i don't believe anyone can be stupid enough to think it won't kill them one day.

He knew exactly what he was doing and he knew the inevitable could happen at any time.

For a man with a young child he was completely selfish and careless.

If you are ill as he was, suffering from a sleep disorder plus pneumonia, it is incredibly easy to overdose without correct supervision. He was very unwell at the time and wasn't thinking about the consequences of what he was doing. It doesn't take alot to push someone over the edge.
