Would you not vote for a presidential candidate because some of his family is muslim?

I've read a lot of articles and there are a lot of emails floating around stating that Barack Obama is of muslim descent or some of his family members are muslim; however, he (Obama) has stated that he is christian. Would you not vote for someone based on this information and why?

Update:

I am personally very tired of receiving a million emails regarding Obama's "background," where every other word is muslim in bold. I think it's ridiculous how people use fear as a tactic to scare people into voting for others because of his muslim background. I've known many people, that because of that email, they are now not voting for him. I just wanted to know how others felt about it.

Doesn’t mater what the family is or what religion you are voting for what he or she will do for your country. Americans are all stupid I can't believe we all follow a country that can not vote for someone because they are black or a woman or that they are not the same religion or they have family members that are not what the social base wants......STUPID!

  • No, because the country should always take precedence over religious beliefs for a president. Even if he does have Muslim ancestors, Obama has repeatedly stated that he is a dedicated Christian. I'm more concerned about his political background than what he chooses to worship in his personal life.

I would vote for the person not their family. And just because a person is Muslim does not make them a bad person. Because the Christians had the crusades does that make every christian a bad person.

ack......most of the people saying this are extremely ignorant. He has never tried to hide the fact that his FATHER is Muslim but he was RAISED Christian. Also, it's not Muslim from like the Middle East, his father is black but converted to it.

Anyway, what's so bad about being Muslim. What? Do you think he'd have his terrorist friends over at the White House so they could bomb us or something...? stereotypes, stereotypes....=(

Why not indeed? A combination of ignorance and media induced anti-Muslim mass hysteria.

Some of my family also happen to be Muslim, but it's alright, I'm not going to eat your children.

If Gary Johnson of course understood that there is a huge distinction between his political opinion approximately what government should not be doing and reading the US shape, then i could be o.k. with him.
