What's the problem with Scientology?
The geekosphere is suddenly all hot on sticking it to Scientology. Why? Anonymous finally gets off his butt and out of his mom's basement and the big enemy is Scientology? The smartest hackers and revolutionaries finally get moving. Torture and GITMO? No. Oil industry cabal? No. The big thing they are worried about is some kooky cult.
Why? Why this?
Just lulz?

Im a white-hat hacker and Ive been doing computer forensics since the first day that PCs entered the internet. I can actually offer some answers based on previous "electronic armies".
A) it has to be something they can all agree on, that none of them have any connection to
B) it must be perceived as a well known yet a weak target
C) they must feel that they will be protected from reprisals, possibly even thanked for their actions
There have been other such attacks with varying success. Not by this group but by others. Its pretty much a yearly thing. Often it coincides with the TV airing of certain movies. Have you ever seen the movie "Hackers"? Do you see the similarity?
In order to qualify many of the targets have been ones where there was a flood of "facts" about the target which "everyone knew" which made it easy for them to agree and gave them the feeling of protection even if it was easily verified that the targets rights would be enforced by law and government agencies.

In Scientology, what's genuine for you is in basic terms genuine in case you stated it to artwork once you utilized it. Makes it no longer basic then to diss it with out ever looking out what that's. Scientology isn't a concept or faith based gadget. that's something we DO, no longer believe. The targets of Scientology are: A civilization with out insanity, with out criminals and with out conflict, the place the able can prosper and undemanding beings could have rights, and the place guy is loose to upward thrust to larger heights. No, it does not end people from leaving. Been a Scientologist because of the fact that 1971 and love that that's helped me and enables me help others.

Contrary to what thetaalways says, Anonymous is not stirring up trouble for the sake of hate speech. Anonymous has no problem with Scientologists practicing their beliefs. What they do have a problem with is Scientology's malicious practices which they use to ruin lives and extort more and more money from it's hapless followers. Heres some links with more info than I can give you in a few paragraphs. Scientology is no just some kooky cult, it's very, very dangerous. Knowledge is power, so arm yourself.

Oh, and Anonymous has very good reasons to hide behind masks. But you'll find out why soon enough if you look through those links and do some research. If you have any more questions feel free to message me.
EDIT: Theta always, the white powder was never proven in any way to be connected to Anonymous. That's not our MO.

As a Scientologist of 36 years, I don't think the problem is with us. We're not the one's terrorizing the Churches (envelopes with white powder, rocks through windows, screaming at parishioners. Wearing masks and looking like robbers and banditos.) They try to assert they are peaceful with all the above going on.
At our church in Portland they were protesting in the middle of our Charity drive for the homeless and those that got flooded out in Vernonia, which our Volunteer Ministers are and have been out helping with the cleanup for those families every weekend for months now. No, I don't think that Scientology is the problem.

You want the answer...the REAL answer? Here it is! The actual fact is that Scientology is the most effective technology that exists on this planet to end all conflict. Think about it...no military arms sales, crashed drug company sales and pissed shareholders of drug companies.....a lot of pissed people! Of COURSE they want to scream that Scientology is bad! Look at Zero Cool....hes really pissed. Shareholder? Maybe.
If this answer is reported or suddenly disappears we will know why!

Yeah, these kids have nothing more constructive to do with their time than do everyone a big favour and try to stir up some more hate against religion.
AnnonyMOUSE works better for me ...
Hiding behind masks (like the Ku Klux Klan) and making covert little sniper "attacks" via the internet. Real smart stuff.
What's up with that??

There may be bigger fights and there may be smaller fights.
There's no reason why Anonymous can't pick this one.
If there's something worth protesting then I think creating awareness is worthwhile even if it isn't THE most pressing issue of the day/month/year.
