Do you think the Yankees...????

Do you think the 2008 Yankees will do better or worse without Joe Torre as their manager?

I think that with the talent this team has, a new coach might help to put a spark back into the lineup. Torre ran with ballclub with a quiet demeaner, almost at times to complete complacency and Girardi, well, he definately has the fire. It might be what they need to get past the early first round exit that they made for the past couple years.

I think better. Torre was an excellent manager and he certainly had the right temperament for managing in New York. Handling a roster of super stars is not easy to be sure. But I think he over worked a few of his pitchers an when it came to the playoffs, they were all burned out. That was always an issue with Torre.

Girardi will make better use of this bullpen. He proved he could manage in Florida. He had limited talent there and made the Marlins extremely competitive.

As a Yankee fan I have to believe they will have another outstanding season and once again be in the playoffs.

Worse. This same team did very poorly last season under Joe Torre; arguably a very good manager and now the same poor team will have to try again with an unproven manager who has never managed in a major market. A-Rod was the only reason that team even made it into the post season and that was because he was in a contract year. He will now go back to playing like he had before last season...errors and all!

There was a spark missing from last years team. It really hasn't been there for some time now. I think that the Yankees had become complacent with the way things were. Making the playoffs was their goal, not winning it all. I think with Girardi in charge you'll see a new hunger for a championship. I think with the kiddie corp. of pitching we'll do alright this year. Don't get me wrong I loved Torre but his time with the Yanks had come and gone. Its a new era for the Bombers.

    Go Yankees!!!

Why would the Yankees bypass after Pujols while they have already got an exceptionally good first baseman because it somewhat is? I doubt they are going to pay somebody $20 million just to be a DH. sure i'd be bowled over if the Yankees signed Pujols. i'm ill of listening to all this BS approximately procuring, it happens for the duration of activities, that's referred to as loose organization. i'm no longer a Yankees fan yet i'm uninterested in stupid questions.

Probably worse, Torre is a good manager.

They would likely do better better with Torre, but the team itself should do better this year than last. Basicly, take last year's team and add a year of progression to each of the rookies. This team could really be special.

They'll be about the same with Joe Girardi. Joe Torre was never a great manager, he just inherited a great team.

Probably similar. The manager position is way overrated in MLB.

Yep!! They were already on the decline. With The Skipper gone? It's gonna be quite awhile, before they return to their glory days!! (tee hee hee!!)
