What does "walking on glass" mean?

I like Leona Naess' song "Charm Attack", but i don't get the part in the song when she sings "he has his minions with no real opinions 'cos they all WALK ON GLASS". Please please please help me out on this one, it's been bugging me forever.

It's sort of like "walking on egg-shells," i.e., the expression would be a metaphor for someone who feels like they have to watch every move or step they make in order to conform to someones desires and win their approval to avoid impending consequences.

In the song it is all a metephor for uneasiness, pain & suffering with getting through. Walking on glass is not easy for most of us. Few find it to be a stress relief.
