Does God punish the smitten for writing really bad Valentine's day poems?

Valentine's day approaches

and on my heart she encroaches

The queen of the blue ladies

whom I hope to have with me in Hades

That fairest of all cookie deities

who with a word could send me to the Pleiades

To her I bow, and beseech

"Place your heart within my reach"

Thrice-Baked, will you be my ****in' Valentine???!!!

Lol! I really, REALLY suck at this stuff, Thrice - but I really do love you, babe!

Update:

(((Purdey)))

Update 2:

(((sherl!!)))

Ain't seen you in a while, babe - glad you're back!

Actually, I think it's freakin' awesome, and I'm not just saying that because I'm the intended monster. Anyone who can use "Hades, ladies, dieties, and Pleiades" in a poem is worthy of infinite respect. I would be your Valentine even if you were a fundie.

    And I love YOU.

EDIT: Awww! (((Tim & Ahaz))). Ooooh. Hot. *Grabs Sherl, Purdey & 'Zilla into the mix* Anyone else wanna join in? I wouldn't want to PRESUME now... *Lies there seductively, big cookie covering body*

God did not "approve" of slavery, rather He knew that it was a fact of life. You can't hold 15th century BC people to 21st century AD social standards. We didn't reach the point we are at today overnight, it was a gradual process. The laws and regulations that God placed on the Israelites concerning slavery was almost unthinkably strict for the day. It would be nearly unheard of in any other nation of the day for a slave owner to be punished for the death of his slave. Additionally, it was only foreign slaves that could be slaves for life; Israelites who entered slavery for whatever reason could only be slaves for a set period of time. Concerning slavery in that time period, it was really the only option to deal with certain people, such as prisoners of war and debtors. You certainly couldn't lock them up--the Israelites did not have prisons back then, and if they did they would be as horribly nasty as any other prison before the 20th century. And they certainly couldn't kill them, even though the surrounding nations did such things--and worse--to their own POWs that they captured. And there was no such thing a bankruptcy protection; if one Israelite owed money to another, and he defaulted, the only discourse was to serve a period of indentured servitude until the debt was repaid.

God never punishes people for the REALLY bad stuff like greeting card sentiments and Christian rock. It doesn't seem fair.

I think that being a bad poet is punishment enough.

It's what's in the heart that counts.
