Earnhardt Tribute?

Did I miss the Pit row guys doing the tribute to Earnhardt? I was looking forward to it and then it didn't happen. Or else it didn't get the attention it deserved..??

I'll tell you one thing here, Fox Sports and NASCAR completely blew it from the start. NASCAR, RCR, and DEI, should have allowed Dale's winning car with either Junior Johnson, Kerry Earnhardt, or Richard Childress himself take that car out on the track and be the official pace car for the start of the race. That would have been big. I wanted that black 3 to grace the very same track that he finally won and eventually lost his life on as memory laps prior to the race. Dale Earnhardt made NASCAR what it is today, it was him that fought Darrell Waltrip all those many races ago, it was him who gave the sport its soul, it was him that took a sport buried in the deep south and took it nationwide. Dale, Junior Johnson, and Childress were among the most influential and wide reaching figures in their era and built the foundation on which this sport has blossomed. Richard Petty did his part, besides he won more races than Dale did, but he was the good ole boy from Level Cross, but Dale was just your blue collar kid from Kannapolis, just working in the mill to feed his family and went racing on weekends to earn a bit more. It was amazing to me that Fox would not get close ups when they pushed it out from underneath the stage during pre-race festivities, instead going for wide swath camera angles of the entire infield. Now this is how I would have done this deal.

    1. Push the car out under a black car cover out in front of the pace car thirty minutes prior to starting engines, Kerry Earnhardt his eldest son would be waiting inside.

    2. At engine start, Kelley (his daughter) Teresa (his widow), and Chocolate Myer (a member of his crew) would hold the back of the cover while Kerry drove out from beneath it and onto the track.

    3. Kerry would drive it for one lap and stop at the start-finish line for a moment or two.

    4. As the field begins to move he drives out in front of the pace car driven by Junior Johnson, Junior would be on the outside pole the 3 would be on the ceromonial pole.

    5. The first lap would be under caution while the 3 leads the first lap under a green-yellow condition and then Kerry would drive down pit lane and back the 3 car into victory lane waiting for the eventual winner.

    6. The race would begin.

    7. While this is going on tv coverage would not go to commercial period.

That is what he deserved. 3 forever in our hearts and prayers.

I hate this, as I was looking forward to this tribute, also. I am watching SPEED Channel right now, and I hope to see something about the Late Great Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Thanks for the great question- Have a great day/evening!

They were afraid of the threat of flying beer bottles from the last time an attempt was made to pay a tribute to Earnhardt at Phoenix.

During the pre race concert Brooks and Dunn did a song and they had Earnhardts car out there, that was about it.

I have no clue either. I wanted to see that and then they never showed it if it happened. Hopefully we will hear something about it if it did. RIP Dale Earnhardt Sr.

ESPN showed Mark Martin's (#8) crew up on the pitbox holding up three fingers.

Jayski.com had said it was going to be DEI teams only, and SPEED said all teams. However, I did not see anything, neither can I find pictures. And, the mention on Jayski is gone.

I don't care either way. Do they really need a tribute every single year at Daytona? You guys realize other NASCAR drivers have died as well?
