Issues with laptop's LCD screen....please help.?

Ok so I just turned on my laptop to pleasantly greeted with two thin lines on my screen. (One is magenta and the other is cyan.) What does this mean? (I am guessing that this is bad.) Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to replace the LCD screen?

Well I have a cousin who works in IT. He does repairs on PC's and Macs.........so I am going to call him but f*ck I am in school right now...........

    Sounds like you've got a dead row of pixels. It happens. Yeah, you'll have to replace the screen.

    Normally I don't advise picking up the "Extended Service Plan" on electronics... but with laptops, I'd buy it every time. Too much can go wrong.

    sounds like your video card is going bad. If you laptop is still under warranty, see if this is covered under the warranty and contact your mfg.

    If not, check to see what a profesional will/would charge... if more than what the laptop is worth.. sell the laptop and use the $$ to buy a new one.
