Stimulus payments (a.k.a. rebate) and Foreign Earned Income Exclusion - will I qualify?

I'm an expat who qualifies for the Foreign Earned Income Exemption. I understand that in order to receive the stimulus payment I need to have at least $3,000 in earned income. I have that, but all of my earned income is excluded from income tax.

I understand that it's a bit strange to expect money from the IRS when I'm not paying taxes, but if the IRS is willing to give me money then I will be happy to pour it back into the economy through amazon.com!

Also, please don't tell me simply to "Look it up on the IRS site" - I tried there without any luck.

There are only two ways to qualify for the rebate.

Net tax liability (which you don't have).

Qualified earned income which includes taxable wages (which you don't have).

I have to agree with Bostonian on this one. You will not qualify for the rebate.

    Good luck.

The "rebate" is based upon your AGI. If your AGI is reduced to $0 by the FEIE you won't qualify for a rebate.
