  • Do I have to get off the Air Train at Jamaica?

I have a few hours between flights at JFK. Since I have to change terminals anyway, I want to see what the Air Train is like.

Can I take it to Jamaica and stay on the train (or change to one going back to JFK) without going through the turnstiles?

  • What is the fake documentary that claims that Mao and Khrushchev were Chicago gangsters?

I saw this about 12-13 years ago. The claim is that Mao and Khrushchev had brothers who lived in Chicago. When the originals died, each the corresponding groups brought in the brothers to fool people into thinking that the original guy was still alive. However, the two guys in Chicago hated each other, and when each was ruling a given country it led to the Sino-Soviet split.

Yes, this was a fake, aired on April 1. However, I'm still trying to track it down and maybe watch it again.

  • My computer's power supply's fan came back to life - is this possible?

Last week, my computer's power supply's fan started making a lot of noise when it ran. When I held my hand over the output I barely felt any air. Naturally, I shut down the machine as soon as possible.

This evening, when I turned the computer on to get an important file, the fan was back to its normal volume and seems to have a good air supply.

Do fans come back to life, or should I be worried?

  • How would one have traveled from New york to Chicago by streetcar?

Every once in a while, I will hear people mention that, once upon a time, one could travel from New York to Chicago entirely by streetcars. Not one of them, however, could mention the route and connections involved.

Do any of you have more information on this?

  • Traveling salesman problem and US capitals - what is the best path?

"Given a number of cities and the costs of traveling from any city to any other city, what is the least-cost round-trip route that visits each city exactly once and then returns to the starting city?"

There have been attempts to find the shortest path between the capitals of the 48 continental United States. Can anyone point me to a solution with the state capitals listed?

  • Stimulus payments (a.k.a. rebate) and Foreign Earned Income Exclusion - will I qualify?

I'm an expat who qualifies for the Foreign Earned Income Exemption. I understand that in order to receive the stimulus payment I need to have at least $3,000 in earned income. I have that, but all of my earned income is excluded from income tax.

I understand that it's a bit strange to expect money from the IRS when I'm not paying taxes, but if the IRS is willing to give me money then I will be happy to pour it back into the economy through amazon.com!

Also, please don't tell me simply to "Look it up on the IRS site" - I tried there without any luck.

  • Where should someone pick me up at Newark Airport?

I'm arriving on an international flight into Terminal C two days before Thanksgiving. The airport is likely to be a zoo.

My parents are going to meet me at the airport. Where is a good place to tell them to wait for me? Should I take Air Train to a different terminal (or one of the parking lots)? If we decide to meet in Terminal C, is there a good landmark that we can pick (e.g. Starbucks, a particular shop)?

  • Need to keep uninstalling and reinstalling network adapter after each reboot?

After I reinstalled Windows XP Pro, I have a problem with the network adapter.

When I try to open the dialer to my ADSL connection, I get error 769. I need to open My Computer - > Manage -> Device Manager, uninstall the network adapter (D-Link DE-528 Ethernet PCI Adapter), search for new hardware (Windows correctly finds the Ethernet adapter and installs the driver), then I need to configure the Local Area Connection for the ADSL connection. I also keep getting failures when I try to reinstall Norton Antivirus that are related to the network conections (I forget the exact message; it's on my home machine).

I tried updating the drivers for the netowrk card but it didn't help.

Is there any solution, other than replacing the network card? Would that even help?

  • When did the Shatt al Arab form?

In ancient times, both the Tigris and Euphrates reached the Arabian (a.k.a. Persian) Gulf as independent rivers. Modern maps show them merging into the Shatt al Arab for about 200 km before emptying into the sea.

I don't need an exact year, just a general time period and, more importantly, if they would have been separate rivers about 1500 years ago.

  • Kosher Restaurant in Tel Aviv near the beach?

I'm trying to find a Kosher restaurant in Tel Aviv (already a challenge) that's reasonably near the tayelet. Within a couple blocks is okay - somewhere I can park at the same place for the restaurant and a walk on the beach afterwards. I would prefer a dairy place, if possible.
