I just bought DDR ram for my dell from Circuit City and it was like 60 dollars, but later I learned that buying it online was a lot cheaper. I think if you can you should buy it online if not go to circuit city its not that bad of a price. (it's worth it)

If you are looking for RAM of just DDR, you will not find it for a cheap price. Make sure you are looking for DDR and not DDR2 because most computers and RAM nowadays have DDR2. Make sure your slot is capable of DDR2. If you are looking for DDR2, then stores like Best Buy or Amazon will have them. Just price match them down from Wal Mart or other places and you might be able to get them for very cheap. 512 MB Ram can go up to $50-70 at Best Buy.(DDR2 that is)

Ouch I feel your pain unfortunately ddr prices are far more expensive then their ddr2 counter part..I think the best Price I've seen for ddr is around $60 @ best buy and that was for pc 2700 which IMO is a rip off.
I would highly recommend New Egg or Tiger direct both are good in regards to shipping and return policy and you could probably pick up pc 3200 @ a far more reasonable price through them...

Ebay is a good cheap source.
Fleamarkets have computer stores with ram that are cheap.
but you should look for prices around 15$ and under for your 512mb ram.

Try looking for "VALUE" Ram, they are kind of cheaper, and lesser the slower the CL level, cheaper the ram it is but don't go for too cheaper ram.

I bought memory from them. Came on time works fine and was cheaper than I could get in the local stores in my area.
