Things to do in the San Jose area?
My father (58 yrs) is going to be visiting me (28 yrs) in 2 weeks, and will be staying with me for about 10 days.
I am new-ish to the Silicon Valley area, and currently live in Santa Clara. I know how to get around ok, but I am still not sure what is all out there to do.
We already have plans to go to SF and Acatraz, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Hiller Aviation Museum, the Winchester Mansion, and the Redwoods.
What other interesting things (tourist-y) would be good to do for someone who is new to the area and someone who has never been here before?
I am looking for activities that don't include too much heavy walking for my Dad has both knees replaced and situationally bad back.
Thank you.
Actually, Dad already vetoed the Sharks game. We are not hockey fans.

I created a trip plan to share with friends who are visiting me in the South Bay. Since your Dad won't be doing any heavy walking, I recommend:
While you're in SF:
The Ferry Building
Cable Cars and Cable Car Museum
Fort Point
Palace of the Legion of Honor
In Monterey
Carmel Mission
17 Mile Drive
In the South Bay
Pichetti Winery (great if you don't have the time to go to Napa or Sonoma)

If you enjoy wine tasting, there are lots of wineries in the Los Gatos/Santa Cruz Mountains region. Many of them let you taste wine for free while others charge a small fee. They are usually located in scenic locations where it is fun to visit and have a picnic or lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Call the San José Convention And Visitors Bureau for a list of places to visit within San José. They should be able to help you.
By the way, I was born in California, in the county of Santa Clara, in the city of San José. I also used to live in Santa Clara, California and also in Greenfield, California. :-)
