Can any1 tell me way flat footed people cant goin the army? Is this an ol wise tale or is this not true I remember hearing this since I was a young teen;but was it jus something woman told their son's to keep them from going to war?

    It was true in the 1990s. Navy also. People have to be able ot walk without issues. Flat footed people will have more trouble than others, I guess.

    Because they tire quickly... or that's what I've been told. I have flat feet, to a degree, and I always thought it was cool that I was spared from joinning the army! Who wants to go to war anyway?

    I think it's something to do with they can't run as fast as normal footed folks. And we all know in the Armed Forces, from boot camp to qualified, there's a lot of running and jogging to be done!

    I'm guessing military personel walk a lot and it would be an inconvinience having some one who can't walk long periods of time without pain.

    i think its cause your feet hurt really bad when u walk. my aunt has no arch in her foot and if she walks for a really long time she is in pain.

    if they are symptomatic (ie: they hurt when you run long distances or stand on your feel all day long) then you may be disqualified.
