Can freezing foods prevent them from going bad?
If you have too much food and freeze some of it will it go bad or get rotten? I know it won't taste as good or as fresh but will freezing the food prevent it from rotting?
Thnx

If placed in a proper container and sealed, freezing food can kill certain bacterias and pathogens, and completely retard the growth of others, so yes, it can prevent food from going bad. Though I suggest freezing fresh stuff - do not go through your fridge and throw stuff in the freezer that looks like it should be thrown out in the next day. Food is far cheaper than a hospital visit - oh and use proper thawing methods - always in the fridge for 24 hours or less, or in the microwave if you are going to IMMEDIATELY cook the item after defrosting.

If you wrap it properly after the meal is over, no matter what it is it should keep, some will deteriorate when defrosted again, some things cannot be frozen. You would have to look up each individual item you had left over to freeze it. It might not retain the same consistency but it should not rot if frozen directly after served and taken away... however, as in the case of wedding foods, could be served out, eaten an hour o so later, sat in the heat for an unknown length of time.
Most should be okay but if it's already reheated, toss it out and if it's anything dubious like mayo or egg, or fish... pork, chicken... toss it.

It depends on what you freeze, and for how long.
I freeze leftovers all the time - they last a few months. Stuff like casseroles, soups, leftover roasts, etc. The only thing I have found that does NOT freeze well are potatoes. They don't rot - they are still fine to eat, but they turn to a weird mushy consistency.

That is the reason for freezing your food. Depending on what it is you are freezing, will determine how long it can stay good in the freezer. Do you have a betty crocker beginers cookbook, if not I suggest you find one at a garage sale or book store--the book comes in handy for beginners.

You should take out the plastic wrapper-those people above are right-they could explode! But,based on my experience,I would put it in a oven.(If you mean the frozen diners are pizzas etc)The result of the food is not as good if you put it in a microwave rather than an oven. A little tip:When I put my pizzas in my microwave,(I don't have an oven)the crust of the pizza will get stuck on the plate. So I yearn for an oven...T.T

The freezer is a good way to keep the food, the longer it is in there it looses quality and flavor.
