It does sound like normal cat behaviour but that doesn't mean that it is behaviour that you want... spraying is a "normal" cat behaviour but not very appreciated by owners!

Cats are crepuscular animals meaning that they are more active at dusk and dawn as these would be the times they would be out catching their food. You often find that cats will have a mad 10 minutes around these times if they have energy to burn off. A good way to channel this energy would be to start to play games with her just before she would start running round and jumping on your head... basically to make sure she doesn't injure you by accident. Fishing line toys or mirrors or laser pens are very good toys as they channel the cats predator instinct with no risk of you getting hurt.

With regards to her hiding under chairs and attacking you, this is a good game as far as she is concerned (and you find it funny so you probably respond to her and reinforce the behaviour). The risk is that this will start to cause pain as she gets older and will cause problems with your relationship with her (for example if you are stressed one day and she jumps out and hurts you, or you are carrying a hot cup of coffee, you might respond very differently, making her worries about you). I would therefore try to stop her from doing this by making sure everyone ignores her attacks and just keeps on walking past her saying nothing, so that suddenly this game is not fun anymore. You will need to get everyone to do this and may need to wear extra layers of clothing so that you can ignore her. Then give her lots of attention and play lots of games with her when she is calm and relaxed and not trying to attack you. As long as everyone is consistent, it shouldn't take long to train her out of this.

With regards to hyperaesthesia, you do not actually mention anything that would make me worried about this and her behaviour fits with normal learnt cat behaviour. Do you see her skin ripple when she is just sitting quietly? Does she show signs of looking at her back/tail and trying to attack it? Does she attack you/run off on the sofas in response to you stroking her? Does she spent a lot of time grooming herself, more than a normal cat, so that she might have bald patches? If you answer yes to any of these then hyperaesthesia may be an option and take her to your vet but if not, don't worry.

  • Yeah my cat does that sometimes, he's a year old now and he runs around like a nutter, jumps out at you from under the bed, hits you when it's feeding time... Pretty much normal kitten behaviour.

Since each cat has a different personality, this is probably normal for her. Cats do the darndest things sometimes! They often have what I call these "cat attacks" & just act plain crazy. Sounds like a doll, enjoy her!

She is merely honing her hunting skills. The 'mad half hour' is normal behaviour -- she's burning off excess energy. Try playing with a fishing-type toy -- something to let her run and chase and pounce.

If she's using claws on you, then you need to train her not to do that. A little squirt of water could deter her. Wear boots!

This behaviour is seen mostly in indoor cats, who, not able to burn off energy will dash around jumping off furniture with a wild look in their eyes. This usually occurs late at night with cats younger than five years old, but can be seen in older cats as well.

She is a 100% normal kitten. That thing they do at night is called the evening crazies. Know what? Normal. Sounds like your kitten is operating at normal kitten levels. ENJOY!

Yes, it's normal - she's showing she loves and trusts you and sees you as her family and she wants to play with you.
