Can Democrats please explain to me why you picked Kerry in 2004?

A liberal senator from New England- gee I am sure this will really resonate with the majority of Americans.

I remember Democrats mostly disliking Kerry in 2004, but they thought he was the most electable for some strange reason. Democrats always pick boring and stodgy northern liberal types that turn voters off. The last THREE Democrats to hold the office were from all the South - Clinton, Carter, and Johnson.

I'm not a Democrat, but I initially supported Wes Clark, and then when Kerry became the Democratic nominee, I gave him a little money too.

Why? Because we are all responsible for our own actions, and I can think of nothing more reprehensible than taking a country united in tragedy by the attacks on 9/11/2001, and then conflating events of that terrible day in order to plot a course of War that had already been decided upon for entirely different reasons prior to that event and after pledging to make combating that kind of terrorism a top priority.

It was a cynical betrayal of the public trust.

The Democrats picked Kerry because he knows how to tap onto rich women. He did it twice. That is a skill that should be shared. They could not find anyone better. He was a war hero? He was a war protester? Hell he was both. He is ugly...yeah.. Rich women love ugly war heros-protesters. Who knows why they picked him maybe it 's because Al Gore was too busy growing an ugly beard. To tell the truth I have no idea why they picked him. In any case it was an all around bad idea. Hey perhaps they should have picked a real winner like Joe Biden....Yeah.

Because it is all image with them... never substance.... Dean made himself look fanatical.. so out with him... Kerry looked like a war hero... but then the substance of his character was illuminated and he fell through too.... One can only hope they have wizened a little since the last election, with Hillary trailing as bad as she is, it is possible that a great number of them have.... Obama has some substance... not much but definitely more than Hillary, but right now he is riding the image train to victory

nope, I was sadly surprised at the time

we might as well have sent Ted Kennedy

and now the thought is that obama can beat McCain - sigh

looks like my fellow Dem's are going to give this one away as well.

I would have preferred Howard Dean myself, but eh, I would have voted for anyone who had a chance against Bush. Since Kerry won the primaries I voted for him in the general election.

Kerry was a weak candidate, but he was by far the best candidate in the general election in 2004.

It's similar to the Republicans choosing McCain this time around...
