What program could I use or where could I go to convert vhs's into dvd's?
I got a couple of vhs tapes that i want to convert into dvd's. How would i go about doing that? Is there a certain place to go. How much will it cost? OR could i do it from my own computer? Which program to use or website that will tell me?
-Thanks in advance :-)

There are commercial services, but it's easy enough to do yourself if you have DVD-making software, such as the Windows DVD Maker that is a part of Vista. There are also lots of other programs available.
You will need a card for your computer (desktop computer) called a "video capture card." That converts the analog signals from the DVD to digital signals and saves them to your computer.
I bought a cheap TV tuner card that had video and audio inputs (make sure they have inputs that are compatible with your VCR or camcorder's output -- the yellow, white and red RCA plugs or S-Video or whatever you have). The card came with simple software to create a video file that's saved on your hard drive. Then use DVD software to convert the video file to DVD format and burn it.

There's a few ways to do this. The cost will depend on how much tape/time you have to convert. I do this work and charge 5.00 per hour of tape, for example. There will be many businesses in your area that do this kind of work.
Try googling "vhs to dvd conversion" or look in the Yellow pages under video.
OR...you could buy a stand-alone DVD recorder and do the work yourself. This is a good idea if you have a lot of tape to convert. Also a good idea if you still have a VCR..not so good if you don't have a VCR...in which getting a company to do it is easy. If you have a VCR...but the DVD recorder...hook up one to other...hit play...hit record and you're good to go!!
OR..if you're computer has a capture card you can capture the footage yourself. But, you will also need a DVD burner and the process can sometimes be tricky. Software like Roxio's "EASY MEDIA CREATOR" is pretty good.
SO...hope that helps!!
