Moses, Exodus, and Drugs??
The article linked below suggests that Moses was under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs (Ayahuasca) when he brought down the Ten Commandments from Mount Sinai.

It is very unlikely that it was Ayahuasca. A big stretch since it is a New World plant.
There are however many psycoactice poants native to the region and fround along the trade routes.
It has also been suggested that the "manna" of the wilderness was mushrooms of a certain type.
No way to know. And, keep in mind fasting (like when there is not enough food) and hard physical exertion causes the same mental things to happen.
Have you ever been out in the desert with no food or water? Walking all day? Don't buy into the newest favorite 'drug' theory about religion.
There is a well presented theory that Jesus was a code name for the Aminita muscaria. And the 12 disciples were also named for its powers, how it effects the body.
None of it is really relevant to spirtuality unless you have an interest in trying the plantspirits for yourself. Try them and see. Don't bother if you don't want.

lol. here is how they argue it:
1) the researcher in question got high as a kid and experienced religious visions.
2) many other people in history got high and experienced religious visions.
3) in conclusion, moses and the nation of israel must have collectively got high and experienced a religious vision.
its ridiculous. that's seriously the whole of the "study" that has become such big news. in academic circles that's actually called a "guess", or, at the very most, an "opinion". "study" is a bit of a stretch, though.
scholarship is really going down the tubes these days.

No I do not believe this. There are 450 varieties of Acacia. In the Bible there were two kind of Acacia's mentioned (Tortillis and Seyal). They were customarily used in woodworking. However the tortillis was used as an astringent and dusted on skin ailments. The Seyal was used for many things such as an aphrodisiac, cure dysentery and leprosy.
The fact that he admits to trying mind altering drugs leaves his credibility low and suspect.
