How do I clean built up grease spots off of my kitchen appliances?

Okay, so my hubby is a sloppy cook, but, hey he cooks great!! Now we are selling our home. In doing a thorough cleaning, my stove top and under my microwave is just layered with oil and grease spots!!! I have tried everything to clean it off, but it only smears it!!! The one thing that remotely works a bit is taking a butter knife and gently scraping it off. But, even then that doesn't take it all off!!!

Please Help a horrible house wife, :).

Use meat tenderizer, this breaks down the fat in the grease. Also you can use powder laundry soap with warm water.

Spinkle it dry over spots then wet your nylon scrubber, you may need to let it soak for 20 minutes. Also can use borax the same way, if you want to keep it green.

Try soaking a washcloth or kitchen towel in white vinegar. Lay it on the grease spots and walk away for an hour. It should be easy to clean after, and the pickle smell goes away pretty quickly.

I am cleaning tile paneling behind and beside the stove. I finally have decided to use my glass scrapper to help remove as much as I can. Since the surface is smooth It is not hurting the finish. I tried Dawn but it does not seem to be as strong as it use to be or maybe I am just expecting to much of the cleaner. I tried Clorox, and several others. This lady that cleans houses for a living told me that she used GAS to clean the mess like that but to be sure and wash it all off and nobody smoke in the house while doing it. Anybody else ever heard of using gas?

I use Easy Off Bam. It comes in a windex shaped spray bottle. Spray it on and leave it for a few minutes. Make sure you have a window open or fan on though because it does create some fumes.

There is something called "AWESOME' all purpose cleaner. It works great on everything without scrubbing. It is yellow in color and pretty inexpensive.
